Please don't take me for being wishy-washy or something like that. I have concrete views. My view on power is that any uncontrolled "power" can go astray, out of hand and turn ugly and rotten. That's what happens with some kinds of evils that arise to overcome other evils, or with revolutionaries that start out fighting for a good cause and then end up as tyrants that need to be overthrown.

I believe we have a great system in our country that keeps those types of things in check. It's been working towards such an end for a few hundred years with success. But it's getting a bit rusty and stuck on Christianity that's trying to hold it back in the 19th Century. I'm all for an atheist state with a clear separation between church and state. That's why sometimes I speak out as a religious person or speak out against religions at other occasions.

People's Revolution

Tyrants often come to power through power or force, and rarely want to give it up. What I love about revolutions is that short moment, which often lasts just a few days, weeks, months or a few years at best (with some exceptions such as the Czech Republic where it's been a few decades), in which there is a great sense of freedom, unity and high hopes of a better future. All those things I wish would stay with all good people that turned against injustice, brutality and tyranny anywhere in the world.

Happiness

The problem many of us have in making some important decisions is with getting reason (or the intellect) in harmony with the inner consciousness calling from the Heart. Many well planned decisions made out of reason may be beneficial for us, but often won't make us feel as well as those that we've made from the Heart. True happiness is a sensual kind of feeling we experience in the Spiritual Center of the Heart. The Spiritual Heart guides us through emotions and not through logic. It often tells us to do things that are not always reasonable or logical. Sometimes it may tell us to jump and fly when it's physically unreasonable to do, or to hit someone when we shouldn't be doing that. Therefore, the calling of the Heart is not always one to be followed. That's why decision making can be a major problem. It is an important issue that has been discussed since the dawn of mankind, and discussed in many written works such as the Veda, Bhagavat Gita or the Bible, to name a few. And different approaches to the problem have been given by various sources. Peace!

Pink Corduroy Overalls

I'm throwing my old life away. So many things I've bought over the years for no practical reason. All those things I've never used. The books I've already read and those I've never read that filled the bookshelf. Then there are the wild and crazy symbols of freedom I've bought such as the pink corduroy overalls that I've kept for some kind parade down main street that I've never attended. I've dumped all those things into the waist can this morning still wondering if I'm not making a mistake. But I sure could use the money I've spent on those today.

Spring's on its way and Nature's telling me to spread my wings and fly where ever the wind blows or my heart takes me. But I wish it was that simple. Nothing is simple these days. There's so many things tying us down but few that give us the freedom we desire. But perhaps this year will be different then the last few years. I'm hoping for that. There's so many ways we chain ourselves down willingly and with pleasure thinking that it's the thing to do at the moment not leaving an escape door open just in case if we change our mind. But when we find that it's not what we want to be doing we find ourselves trapped. And that's when problems begin. So it's time to take a break, time to go on a trip to get away from it all and recharge the batteries, if you know what I mean. If all those prove not enough then it's time to start thinking of making more serious changes. That's more or less where I've found myself a couple years ago. I've decided then that I want to relocate to Amsterdam, San Francisco or elsewhere like that where I could be myself again (in a greater sense then where I am now).

Idea for a Film Script

This is a rough idea for a film script that would have to be written by a professional Writer because I'm not one. The story would be based on facts mixed with fiction because real life has many lame moments. It would also have to be done in a humorous way so it wouldn't become a melodrama. Lots of old documentary films could also be used to give the film the look and feel of those times.

Here's the story in a nutshell... Karma has not prepared a conventional life for the hero. But that Karma was created for him by his Higher Self. So, the life he's had was a life he's designed himself. There are some reasons for that but those won't be discussed here. Though the Higher Self is immortal, the hero is as weak and mortal as any other human being, and his soul reincarnates through a genetic transfer of memory that does not manifest itself in full with every birth.

The story begins with a free flight between the stars in space until the blue planet Earth appears below in a distance. At that instant, the viewer is beamed down to the planet at a great speed like as if it was done with a close up down to a street view level on Google Earth. Now comes the next scene... A crying newborn baby wrapped in white cloth is shown and the scene fades out. Now, it fades in again and we are in 1961 where we see the hero as a young boy sitting before a TV set watching news of Yuri Gagarin traveling into space. After that, we move on to the next scene. Its 1963 now. Our hero is a bit older and hears the news of President Kennedy's assassination through a school PA system in his classroom. When he returns home, he watches TV again and witnesses the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald live on TV. The scene fades out and fades in again with the hero watching the first The Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. After that, the hero witnesses the British Invasion of other bands such as The Rolling Stones. He grows long hair, wears high heal Beatle boots, wears rings like Ringo Star and dresses in Mod Fashions from England. He experiences some rejection and is made to get a hair cut by the school Principle.

Next, we see him as a young hippie. He gets introduced to psychedelic drugs and gets a hippie name after taking LSD with an older hippie friend that he met in Chicago's Old Town. After that, he gets involved in the 1960s peace movement (Anti-Vietnam War movement, Human Rights Movement), protests with scenes of draft card burnings and hitchhikes with his friend down Highway 66 to Summer of Love in San Francisco in 1967. In the following scene, we find ourselves in late 1969, just before the hero's eighteenth birthday and after the Woodstock concert. The hero is at home and explains the draft situation to his Parents and tells them about his school friends that were drafted and died in Vietnam. He leaves Chicago for Montreal, Canada where he stays a few weeks. Problems with finding a place to live and getting a residence permit drive him to look for refuge elsewhere. So, he calls his Mother in Chicago, explains the problems and convinces her to fund a trip to the Old Continent for him. Shortly after that, he's in the middle of the Atlantic on a transatlantic Ocean liner heading for London, England. He's not met with open arms in London and witnesses a Police raid on a pot party that he is about to attend. He leaves London for Copenhagen in Denmark, which was the bicycle capital of Europe at that time. But he doesn't stay there long either. In the next scene, he catches a cargo ship to Rotterdam in Holland. Goes through a fierce storm on the North Sea, in which he almost gets blown board. In Rotterdam, he becomes a street musician and rents a sleeping room from a Dutch hippie in a canal houseboat. He visits coffeeshops, smokes hash, meets a girl, makes love and gives a concert in a hippie coffee house with songs he's written for guitar and harmonica. He then leaves Rotterdam and takes a train to Amsterdam where John Lennon & Yoko Ono are holding a "Love-In" in 1969 (scenes of hippies on Dam Square and in parks; coffee shops etc. from documentary films). He hangs out with other hippies on the Dam Square and sleeps in Vondelpark for a few days before finding shelter on another houseboat. Then, due to the high cost of living in Holland and lots of other hippies playing music on streets, he finds it difficult to get by. So he decides to head for the Polish mountains on the Czech boarder where his Mother has arranged a place for him to stay with her friends. He's eighteen now and starts drinking a lot of beer and vodka with exchange students he met in a mountain resort town. Later he's invited by his friends to play harmonica with their blues band at a coffee house concert that they've organized and gets a standing ovation. In the next scene, he goes to Prague and brushes shoulders with other American hippie students. One of those students resembled young President Clinton, who was studding there at that time.

After living in Europe for about a year, he gets a ticket in the mail from his Mom for an Ocean liner from Gdynia, Poland to Montreal. He returns to Chicago in 1971, finds a retail sales job in a downtown hotel across the street from City Hall. He's in conflict with the law because of his unresolved draft situation but he's lucky not to be questioned about it. Attitudes about the war have changed from those he remembered before he left the country. He also comes out of the closet and gets involved in Chicago's vibrant gay scene. Election of President Carter in 1977 changes everything. The end of the Vietnam War follows and President Carter gives amnesty to draft evaders. The hippie hero registers for selective service right after that. In his job as a cigar stand Manager, his everyday costumers are the City's Mayer, Senators, Judges, FBI agents, journalists, mafia bosses and other prominent city figures. Many of those persons appear to be fighting with each other in the media when he watches TV at home after work. But to his surprise, in real life they act like friends when they hang around his cigar stand, read newspapers and smoke the Cuban cigars that he sells them from under the counter. But later the hotel gets sold and demolished to make room for a new high-rise office building. So, he finds a better job and rents a studio apartment with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan on Lake Shore Drive. He spends time biking, going to Chicago Film Festivals and rubbing shoulders with beautiful people, models and Playboy Bunnies on Oak Street Beach and on Michigan Avenue.

The hero is now in his early thirties and finds himself unemployed during the late 1970s recession. Then he is offered an opportunity to return to Europe to save a difficult family situation (too much to explain about here..) in mid 1980s. There, he witnesses the underground Solidarity Movement in Poland and fall of the Berlin Wall. The hero is now a middle age man in his forties when he meets a young straight student in whom he recognizes someone he knew in a past life (a flashback to ancient India). Together, they start talking about Yoga, which the hero's been practicing since the late 1960s. They get others interested in the Yoga and are some of the first to manage to register a none Christian religion in predominantly Catholic Poland. After that, they are faced with intolerance and rejection from Catholics, bad Press coverage, intrigues by clandestine foreign agents, Police monitoring, attempts to derail the group and other things. The group is struggling for survival, holds public lectures and meetings in a hostile environment. The bad Press leads to a decline of interest in the group. That in turn leads the hero and his friend to decide on closing the group. Now the hero realizes that religions don't unite people but divide them. From now on, he looses interest in religion and just in time... A New Millennium brings media reports of mass suicides, child abuse in the Catholic Church and other problems in other religions. The film ends on a live TV broadcast of 9/11 attacks that the hero and his friend witness on CNN. Suddenly, during that live broadcast the hero's TV goes out with a small bang shortly after the last plane hits the WT building. The film ends on a close up of the TV's black screen. Final credits follow that scene on a black background.

The movie would have to be filmed in several countries on two continents. It should have lots of music of the era because there was great music through those four decades. The hero has original music that he writes and plays throughout his travels. There would be Mod Fashions, Austin Powers style international espionage scenes (BTW, Mike Myers was an actor from Chicago's Second City Theater). The film would have to be done with humor and perhaps with some Matrix series special effects and time travel for flashbacks between distant past and future events, which could be material for other film scripts. The story would also take us back to ancient Indo-European times, to India and to a space city on Earth orbit where the hero and his friend find themselves again due to radioactive pollution of the planet after a nuclear war...

It may be difficult to get rights to use many popular music recordings that accompanied us through those years. But the Author has his own music that he recorded for a demo, which could be used in some places instead. Those recordings can be found here.

The Formula For Prosperity

There is a Universal law that highly developed societies have followed in the past that brought them prosperity. The law was mentioned in ancient works and in modern ones such as Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill sponsored by an American philanthropist W. Clement Stone. When that law is followed, it brings prosperity in a short time. That law is the law of giving from the heart not expecting anything in return. That last point is very important for this to work. It's a simple method everyone may already be familiar with. What it says in a few words is that greed brings calamity, and giving brings prosperity. Yes, it's that simple. The formula for success and prosperity has been passed on to us through the ages and it's that simple. But how does it work? Well, it's as simple as breathing. When breathing we take air in and then exhale it. Giving translates into freedom. Those that give begin by giving freedom to others. Freedom stimulates dreaming and the creative potential that lays dormant in man. And those stimulate action and growth. Where there's freedom growth follows. And growth translates into prosperity.

In that system of giving the prescribed amount donated to spiritual persons and the poor has been established in ancient times at 10% of earnings. But for example in Poland the Polish authorities have been depriving Poles from attaining prosperity by limiting some of their freedoms and tax deductible donations to religions and charities to a stingy 1%. What does that tell us about the people the Poles have elected to represent them? What does that tell us about the Poles? Now answer for yourself, what is the cause of their many past and present problems?

It's been noticed that Poles complain more then others. But few understand why they're complaining. Complaining has become a national character trait for Poles. But Poles that live abroad don't complain more then others. So, perhaps the reason is that they have many reasons to complain about in their homeland? Prolonged complaining creates other problems. It creates negative subconscious suggestions. But that's another subject for a different article.

Honesty In A Finite Universe

Here's some ideas for thought on a long Winter night in cold regions of our planet.

The bad karma or the fall-back of resorting to disinformation is that others will not take one seriously when one will be telling the truth. Disinformation causes distrust and more disinformation that can return to its source and cause ten times more damage when one least expects it. Everything returns to it's source sooner or later in some form.

I believe our Universe has an oval shape like an egg, and that it's finite, and that there may be other Universes like it outside of ours. An entity such as that forms a body, like that of an atom or a gene in some larger structure. We already are such a structure and it's possible that we could also be a part of such larger structure. Perhaps a part of its intelligence system or neuron system that's responsible for its evolution, memory and self-knowledge, for example?

Poland and Polish Hippies

Hippies in America and other Western countries are artistic, entrepreneur type of people that have emerged from the bohemian and beatnik American culture scenes. They have been a kind of check-valve or regulator for the democratic system by using the liberties given to the people through the Constitution and other civil rights that were just words on paper until demonstrators demanded them to come into life.

At one time, I mistook the Polish Solidarity movement for such a movement and used to compare it to the hippie movement. As it turned out, the Solidarity movement was not a libertarian movement at all but a revolutionary socialist worker's union movement that decided to over-through the legal government. Change of political system in Poland took place at a round table where former communists and Solidarity leaders (many of whom may have been KGB agents) agreed to rule the country together. Hence to put it in a general way, the former KGB system remained and the authority's autocratic tendencies to control all sectors of the country's life; including civil liberties and private people's lives to some degree. Solidarity was a Catholic-Socialistic labor union's movement that was formed to demonstrate against low wages, oppression of the dominating in the country Catholic Church and demanded other freedoms... More freedom came to the country with its Nato and EU memberships.

The Poles are just learning about freedom and have difficulty in giving up old ways of thinking and doing things. Now the Middle Ages style, backwards Polish Catholic Church (a different form of Catholicism then we know) has become the oppressor and former Communists and KGB agents are making millions in various business ventures or just living the good life. So, you see. We are simultaneously living in two different universes. American Hippies were kids from good homes that loved their country and decided to make it a better place through the democratic system that was given to them. That's the main difference between us and the so called Polish, Russian etc. hippies. I'm an American hippie. Polish Hippy is my American nickname given to me by hippies in America after I passed a test... Because to become a recognized hippie one had to pass a test in those days because hippies were an underground movement.

Multiple Universes In a Multidimential World

Different people and beings simultaneously live in different dimensions or different Universes. Here's a verse from the Hindu Scripture that refers to that.

"Because You are unlimited, neither the lords of heaven nor even You Yourself can ever reach the end of Your glories. The countless universes, each enveloped in its shell, are compelled by the wheel of time to wander within You, like particles of dust blowing about in the sky. The srutis, following their method of eliminating everything separate from the Supreme, become successful by revealing You as their final conclusion" (Bhagavata Purana 10.87.41)

Dualists will take the above to speak of outside material Universes. But none dualists will understand it differently; that You are the Self, the source of all those different Universes. The sruti (the scripture) reveal You as the final conclusion, as the Supreme Entity, the source of all things in the Universe. But to fully understand this enigma one has to purify oneself and go beyond all the different mental blocks and coverings that keep the Self identified with the body, ego, senses, mind etc., because the true Self is hidden deeply beyond those vails or coverings. That's the Self that's shown to a none dualist through the mirror of the Scripture.

Can't Help Foreign Hippies

I'm not involved in foreign politics accept for those back home in USA where things are more civilized, and where my views and lifestyle are considered to be conservative. I have few friends in Poland and am a foreigner there and I've been complaining because I'm not finding myself well in that environment. Going anywhere further East would be a mistake. I'm not made of the same clay.

American hippies were different from Polish or Russian hippies. We gave up many luxuries and comfortable Middle Class homes in the name of some ideas, and had to learn to make breakfast or dinner for ourselves and find new perspectives on life. But it wasn't until I came to Poland that I learned basic things such as what animals different kinds of meat came from, for example. In America, I never gave that any thought when buying foiled meat on a tray in a supermarket. Poland is rather hostile territory for foreigners, members of sub cultures, gays, lesbians, hippies, wealthy people, blacks, Jews etc. In other words, for anyone that's different from the mainstream. Most refugees don't stay long in Poland, if they don't have to. I've already got Poles, KGB, GRU, NSA, CIA, FBI, Interpol, the Dutch, Chinese intelligence and Alien UFOs hanging around my crib... and who knows what other prying peeping Toms doing infrared observations of my bedroom and performing preventive rectoscopy just in case if I do anything wrong in their immaculately holy country. So, I can't really say that I feel alone or unnoticed in Poland. All those preventive measures I've had to live with for years because those are the Soviet-like ways things are still done there to keep an army of post-communist agents on the payroll. So, you see... Please don't ask me for help with problems in your country. I don't want to make things worse then they are... I'm almost 60 yrs. old and would like to enjoy life for a change, if you know what I mean. That's also why I'm looking forward to moving back to the "free world" where folks like I don't raise an eyebrow anymore.

Globalization Is Good

I love our planet and I believe the problems we are experiencing in our time arise from over-population and globalization. Pollution of the environment is due to consumption by a large mass of people that Natural process cannot keep up with due to the large demand. The rise in birth rate is responsible for the pollution and globalization. Globalization is a positive process that I'm all for. That is the way to go! But problems arise when it reaches those regions of our planet that want to impose their incompatible and out-dated due to long periods of cultural isolation modes of thinking. And at the base of human thinking are things people have been programmed to believe. Based on those beliefs, their reality's been constructed on. That kind of incompatible mental software is responsible for many conflicts we have been witnessing. Religious beliefs or atheism (also a religious worldview) are the different Operating Systems working behind what we take for Reality.

Traces of WW2 in Europe

There's little trace of WW2 in Europe now except for some holidays, graveyards and historic monuments. The most destroyed cities were Warsaw and Rotterdam. Warsaw was destroyed by bombs and Nazi demolition crews on Hitler's order in revenge of the several uprisings and partisan attacks on high ranking officers that took place there during their occupation of the country. Rotterdam was the second most destroyed city by heavy bombing because it was a major fuel port for the Allies. But things would have returned back to normal for all of Europe if not for the half century of Russian occupation of parts of Europe.

Wars expose the worst and the best sides of man. But if you ever have a chance to visit Yad Vasham in Israel you'll find long lists of mostly Polish people that helped Jewish people during the war. Israelis are building an impressive modern Holocaust Museum next to the Warsaw Ghetto Monument near my house. I am in the historic area between the ghetto and old town. Sometimes I get the impression that if not for WW2 the Poles wouldn't have much to get inspired by. And they just released a 3D movie about the Warsaw Uprising. I mean, how much can be said on the subject and for how long? There's also Swedish, Danish, Polish and what have you music bands writing songs about it, not to mention a whole army of Jewish artists. It's not just a business but an image the city has developed. I think there was an effort to change that but Jewish people took that in ill faith or something. So, it's a great place for those that are into that kind of stuff. I was also inspired to record my version of Chopin's Funeral March on an electric guitar after a Jewish funeral where I heard the music and offered it to the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Jewish Museum but never got any reply from them. Perhaps they got offended because I am not well known and it's the music they play only at funerals. Whatever it may be, the vibes I'm getting in Poland are anything but positive.

A Comment on "To Europa"

I was going through a lot of radio stations looking for something to get me up on my feet last morning and all I heard was crappy music. Crap can also be inspiring. It did inspire me to write the earlier blog post yesterday. But that's not the kind of stuff we want to be inspired by. I had another mind block and totally forgot to mention all the great stuff our culture gave to the world. I probably sounded a bit unjust in my opinions because of that; throwing everything into one bad. But if I wrote a perfect comment then perhaps I wouldn't have inspired others to come up with their perfect comments on my comments.

Communication is a bit like trying to play ping pong. It takes two to bounce thoughts back and forth; though it can also be played alone against a wall. And before one knows it, some onlooker takes those same idea to the next level, writes something based on them: maybe a book or a screenplay, sells it and makes lots more kitsch and more bucks. We may come across our ideas somewhere sometime and be amazed at how some genius in different locations of our planet such as Burbank or Hollywood is came up with the same ideas at the same time we did.

So moved by that amazed discovery we may strike another blog comment or online conversation on how magic or synchronization works in the world while we're glued to the monitor screen again for long hours day after day in spite of the fact that we are totally broke and on edge of a nervous breakdown because we haven't got the bread to pay off a loan or something.. So we save on expanses, grown long hair and become anemic because of that screen and its never ending magic show. Finally when we leave our cocoons for some reason for a while, friends and neighbors think we're going down hill because we're on drugs all the time. And honestly, I wish I/we were. So, why not make an image of it or an alternative lifestyle? And by the way, that's another great idea to spread around a congregation of online minds for a neo-hippie type nerdy movement. Do you see now how that neuron network works?

To Europa

One has to get noticed to make it as an artist and it's often necessary to become controversial to get noticed in a highly competitive world. The most popular way to do that is by causing some kind of media scandal. But that's not possible for me any more because many things that raised an eyebrow in the 1960-70s don't raise eyebrows anymore. That's because being normal; being oneself was not normal then. And it's still not accepted in many backward parts of the world. But I'm not that kind of artist looking for that kind of attention. Besides that, I don't like being the center of attention; though I don't mind VIP treatment.

Trends in American culture have become shallow. But it was different in the past when American culture brought many fine artists and their works to the world. So I turned toward some old fashion sources for inspiration. No nat Blues or old movies but towards Europe, which has always inspired me just as it had many other Americans in the past. I believe there would be little depth in our culture without a link to our roots on other continents. That's why many need it just as we need air for breathing. A list of Americans that had been inspired by the Old World is very long. So, I'm not an exception.

The problem with contemporary mainstream culture is that it seems to be built on lots of kitsch. It's run by clever business people from Wall Street and teams of professionals from various fields such as social psychology, PR, marketing etc. So if one is looking for works of greater depth, one has to turn to the old Masters or the works and events of the 1960s Revolution. Why the 1960s? The '60s were a time when people questioned social goals, values, politics, commercialism and the Christian morals that our culture was built on. It turned out to be a time of awakening, enlightenment, and expansion of consciousness and awareness that was like the Sun coming out from behind dark clouds at Noon on a Midsummer day. The beams of that sunlight are still expanding their radiant light today, more then ever. Perhaps that's why many are going on back in time trips to the 1960s Revolution in hopes of finding some inspiration.

Ideas that 1960s mainstream circles took to be controversial, fantastic or drug induced by some hippies have become important parts of modern culture. Hardly anyone would question them today. But many of those were nothing new on the Old Continent. That's because in all that commercialism and kitsch we've lost that which was honest, true, eternal and of real value. That's also why it was inevitable for me to return to the Old World if I were to develop further as a human being. And it was Karma that brought me there. There, I found the balance I needed and my self. Things are simpler, life is more meaningful and less demanding in the Old World. The relocation was possible because of my Mother, who after retiring relocated to Poland and where she passed away of old age. Howl - a movie to see

I just saw Howl, the movie. It's a film to see for everyone interested in Beat literature and Allen Ginsberg. It's very well done and I learned a lot from the movie that I didn't know before because these events were taking place when I was just a kid. Though, I've been a Ginsberg fan since grammar school. Now I am enlightened on the subject but sorry that I didn't know all that when I had a chance to sit down and talk with Allen about a year before he passed away. Someone's done a great job on this movie. This movie should be seen before seeing Milk because it places the sequence of events in order. I believe that Howl is a movie about those great Americans, who prepared the way for those like Harvey Milk in New York or San Francisco, but over a decade earlier in the 1950s. A great lesson in freedom and in how the way for hippies and the 1960s revolution was prepared, and why it was revolving around Allen Ginsberg and his friends in San Francisco.

In my opinion, Julian Assange, the author of "The esoteric Kundalini Tales" (1998) and founder of WikiLeaks is himself an example of Kundalini at work. Not all who are influenced by that energy have been able to attract mass attention and gain the support he has. At least he's not trotting down the track Erich von Däniken had, which also brought von Däniken great success. Yes, truth mixed with an appropriate dose of fantasy sells very well. But Assange's "energy" is more refined then von Däniken's. So there's more sense, logic and truth to what he is selling to the public; though not deprived of fantasy either. But we are living in times when we are making fantasies come true. I'd have lots more to say on the subject. But who's buying what I've got to say (LOL)? So I'm going to stop here for now...

Things can get really difficult without some kind of steady income to count on. As unmaterialistic and free as I've always wanted to be when I was younger, I've learned later in life that our existence is totally dependent on the basic material stuff and on our selves when things really get rough. That's why material stuff is called the basic stuff... Sorry for getting so rudimentary here. But I've had problems with coming down to earth. Life in heaven on cloud nine is not all music, wine and roses without tasting some bitterness. Now that I've had my share of the bitter stuff, I can talk from experience. The best region to be in is the Mid Region. That's also where Krishna talks to Arjuna on the battle fields of Kurukshetra in the Bhagavat Gita. Life is a struggle... Forgotten Bards

Good Morning! It's the last Sunday in November. The ground's covered in a shroud of snow. A great time of the year cycle for warm sweaters, sheep coats, hot chocolate, some snugly warm sounds and someone nice to catch some zees with on the long winter nights. So, I've put on some old albums and turned up the volume. The neighbors are probably wondering what's the old crap that old guy's listening to? But I don't care what they think. I need that old crap to get by, to get my head together this morning, if you know what I mean.

All those forgotten beatnik bards like Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon & Garfunkel, Donovan or Gordon Lightfoot. Who listens to them anymore or who remembers them? Who has the neuron connections that were made those days when their music was on top and shaped the imagination of a progressive minded generation of young Americans? Who remembers how they promoted new ideas through their music that many have forgotten about. Such as those that drew our attention to civil rights or the Vietnam War. Perhaps it's good we've forgotten those things. But this morning, there's no one around to share memories with. I skipped a few songs here and there and played my favorite ones over and over again. Some of P,P&M's were 500 Miles, Sorrow, Lemon Tree, If I had a Hammer, Where Have All The Flowers Gone. And then Simon & Garfunkel's earliest albums, Donovan and G. Lightfoot's Greatest Hits for some Canadian flavor to all that New England winter morning stuff. Those were hard times. But in all that struggle and looking back now, those were great days that I love returning to once in a while. The Philosopher's Stone

Why do people look for gold? Most probably because they don't have gold or have some kind of complex that makes them want more of it. And why do people such as I for example seek knowledge or enlightenment? Probably because we need those to make us less ignorant and better. I know myself best, and am still cutting and polishing that crude stone that I am. Hence, I speak from personal experiences on the long road to realisation. That road is long and difficult; even some mythological gods had to reincarnate many times for that same purpose. So, don't think it's an easy task...

There were many hippies in the 1960-70s especially when we were involved in the anti war movement which was of personal interest to many of us because of the draft. But when the war ended the movement also ended and so did the hippie movement, until its revival about twenty years ago. But there are those of us that have for some reason remained hippies deep inside; in spite of all the changing times and fashions. However, I don't think of myself being hip or anything like that. I could point to many others that I think are hip and that I would like to be like. But I realize that I just don't have that something they have to be like them.

People influence each other in many ways. An example would be the Jack Ass shows that have influenced many young people to literally torture themselves for fun in S&M style. A kind of more advanced bunch of the Three Stooges, if you know what I mean... TV and the media have a tremendous influence on people's minds. Those are the tools of the modern Magi. But I believe those Hollywood Magi are ignorant of the programming they're doing on the minds of their viewers. What I'm trying to say is that one should learn to be careful of what one believes in, what one thinks as much as one is careful about what one eats. Because we are what we believe in, what we think and also what we eat. Simply speaking, that is the basic thing one should become aware of for self-development and self-realization. I am not perfect either. But I'm aware of that, still working on the stone cutting and polishing of my mind, and am careful not to feed others with garbage. Why? Because it would make me feel sick if I were to do that. So I believe that the key to personal happiness is in the way we act towards others. But as my friends have already observed, I can also turn into a dragon and my words can hurt others; though not intentionally. We all have the three qualities in us - the good, bad and the in-between i.e. the wise, the ignorant and the rainbow of qualities that lays between those two extremes.

Dark Side of Europe

Europe has much to offer but it also has had a dark side to it. The first to write about that was Joseph Conrad. Europeans colonized most of our planet, took or stole land from the indigenous people that lived on it for thousands of years before their arrival and claimed it for their own. They imposed their own languages, religion, worldviews, dress, customs etc. in those they concurred. They were ruthless and cruel in the way they treated those that they overpowered. They exploited, humiliated and exterminated many others in those lands for centuries. And still in the 1930-50 European colonies were going through their golden age. Hardly anyone could imagine that things would change for the next century, at least. Yet, they have almost unexpectedly suddenly changed.

Europe grew rich on the slave labor and the goods they brought in from their colonies. Life was sweet in Europe, and the European's dark side of nature was not as apparent there as in their colonies; except for some family conflicts between the Europeans themselves that often turned into wars. Those conflicts reached their zenith in the two world wars and showed the rest of the world what evil the European genius was capable of. After those wars ended, the Cold War era began until the late 1980s. Then the end of that era came with the rise of the Solidarity Movement in Poland and the fall of the Berlin Wall, and finally fall of the Soviet Union. All those cruel eras we have behind us for now. The construction of a strong EU and surviving the economic crises that came like a tsunami after 9/11 from abroad is the main concern for the EU now and it's former colonies. But there is no turning back from that road to the Union for the Europeans because it is the only thing that they have which would stop them from jumping at each others' thoughts in the future. Now that the EU has been successful in that respect, the world should concentrate more on other regions of the globe, and try to find ways to repair the situations there. There are many regions of conflicts that need to be dealt with such as those in Africa or the Middle East, and other problems such as hunger. Lets hope someone will come up with an idea that would be as successful in resolving their problems as it's been done in Europe. That I believe will be one of the greatest challenges for us in the 21st century. And to help resolve those we will need more peace and better economic conditions in the Western world because I believe it won't be possible to make those repairs without help from abroad.

I believe we all have our better and worse days. And isn't it amazing how much more one notices when one is down and out? So I've noticed that for about a decade much of my life activity has been reduced to a monitor screen. And for the last half of that decade it's been a thin 15" laptop screen, which was my pride and joy until it broken down and went to repair one day. I've got it back now but with the end of the month I'll be without a cable Internet connection. So I'll probably be doing a lot less networking and updating my websites.

In spite of the image most foreigners that I've met have of English speaking people esp. British and American, most people like to complain. And as everyone's probably noticed by now, hippies are well known complainers. And I'm an expert at that too... In fact, that is a great source of much of my knowledge about things. I think the reason for that is because without difficulties there would be no progress. Progress is also evolution of things. And evolution is fueled by difficulties. Now here's where it gets a bit rough and ugly... Some manage to make it through those difficulties and others don't. I think the ones that do are the ones that were fortunate to find good friends, found themselves in the right place at the right time or had the right connections. But to make it all alone through great difficulties is very difficult. So, I think that's why many hippies and alienated artist types have made on art out of complaining. Marc Smith, Allen Ginsberg, Slam poetry and Poetry Slams are fine examples of that.

Are there aliens among us? Yes there are. And not only those from Canada or Mexico. It's sooo obvious to me; especially in America that they have chosen for their destination. And yet, hardly any one's noticed it or shown serious concern over their invasion. How did we come to such highly advanced technologies? Normal people just are not that smart. Where do we find those aliens and how do we identify them? Are they in Area 51 or elsewhere, or do they have cone heads? Well, the most obvious ones look just like us and could be found almost everywhere. The most obvious ones are in scientific research centers, hi-tech centers and their many branches that they've developed or that they have patents on. Practically speaking, they have control of almost every sector of the country, of many American downtown centers, manufacturing plants, ports etc. There are aliens also in highest political offices, in the military and civil service, the banking sector etc. Sooo, what are they waiting for? What do they want from us? I donno. I'm not one of them (lol) and not smart enough to figure that out. But take a look at the list of every year's Nobel Prize winners. You'll find that most of those winners are from America. But has anyone inquired into where they've came from? If we did that then we'd find that most of them came to our country from abroad. Not a bad way to cover up a lot of stuff without leaving too many traces. But I'm not a genius nor anywhere close to getting nominated for a Nobel Prize or any other prize like that; unless it's perhaps the Fool of the Year award (lol). So I can't even guess what they're up to. But it's true that if not for them we'd have never gotten to become such a highly advanced society as we are today. Nor would we've been able to build so many marvelous architectural wonders such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Boston Bridge or Cental Park just to name a few. In fact, our country was built entirelly by aliens. So, why should we be concerned with those that may be coming from other places in space?

How To Get By When Living Abroad?

Clowns have more fun. I've never wanted to become a clown but always wanted to be a humorous talk show host or a stand up comic. Finally, I think I ended up as an online hippie moron webmaster for a hobby. I'm really sorry that I've dropped out of beauty school (lol - really! A friend talked me into it but that was a bad mistake), collage where I studied programming in various machine languages (later, that helped me become a self-educated webmaster), and that I never learned any practical manual skill such as shoemaking or carpentry, for example. Having lived in a few countries on both continents in my quest for happiness I've learned that it's a lot easier to find employment at any age as a tradesman or a mechanic rather then a white collar worker; especially if one doesn't have a voice for telemarketing, which is about the only job an English speaking expat without any other skills could find abroad. I've been turned down a few times by Time-Life Magazine and others and certainly am not the telemarketing type nor have the voice for it. Sooo, if anyone would have any practical info (No Spam please) on how to make a few bucks on the Web without any gimmicks (forget about Google ads, CafePress, AllPosters and all the others) then I'd love to hear about it. Perhaps I should consult with the German psychic or something like that... I've also looked for guidance in the Tarot but found that it works fine when I am the Reader for others but not for myself. When one reads Tarot for oneself one does not find more then what one already knows. Tarot needs a Reader, so it just doesn't help much when used alone. The Tarot could be used for contemplation or to get some better insight into past or current affairs and where they are heading. But it is not a skill that I could make a living on. Working as a English as a Foreign Language Teacher was a way to make a very modest living when traveling abroad. But that too has become a very demanding field and most of the job opportunities have slipped further East into Asia these days. There's still the Peacecorps. But unless if one's from an influential family, the only jobs they have to offer to the so called "little people" are ones that no one would want to take if one wasn't naive and fully aware of the working and living conditions that really have to offer in Africa or elsewhere. Other then that, one has to count on luck or the help of friends. So, I suppose the question most people in the world have on their mind is not how to become rich but how to survive. If someone is thinking of becoming rich then that must mean that one is doing well already and would like to do even better or that one is in such deep water that only getting rich could get him out of dept. Fortunatily for me, I'm not yet in such deep water. So, that's something positive to be greatful for. Peace!

A different, inconspicuous kind warfare

There may be a new kind of warfare on the rise with new kinds of weapons. The weapons in that warfare could be imbedded in consumer products made in one country and destined to another country. How many consumers are aware of the chemicals and other substances used in for example glazed cooking pots and pans that may carry them into our digestive systems or in other cases into the bloodstream through the pores of the skin? There are slso various paints, melted metals, plastics, oils and other inconspicuous materials that could carry various hazardous substances into our bodies? Some of those substances may not be hazardous by themselves but when mixed with for example cooking salt or other widely used products could turn into hazardous substances. How many products are checked by anyone for such possible hazards? Perhaps I'm being a bit too paranoid, but we live in a hi-tech world in which we should be more aware of those kinds of possibilities and potential uses of hi-tech in the consumer products sector. Some countries we import many products from are mamufactured by companies that are owned by their governments. Therefore, there is a possibility that they could be used for other purposes according to their national defense interests. There are also hazardous electronic elements that could be found in electronic components that could be used for spying and that could use our equipment without our knowledge for other purposes. There are also fabrics, cosmetics, body care products such as shampoos and conditioners that could carry many chemicals into our bodies; not to mentione hazardous wave frequencies or magnetic fields generated by antenas and other equipment that could cause diseases such as cancer, cell damage or brain damage. Considering the above, components with a limited life span found in our cars and other equipment would be the least to worry about these days.

No Shouting About Ecology or IMF

Perhaps some may be wondering why I'm talking about music and stuff like that but haven't been shouting about the state of ecology and the recent BP oil spill. The reason is simple. I have been warning others about how we are destroying the ecosystem and the consequences that will bring on our planet for over 30 years. Many other hippies and members of other counter-culture groups have been doing the same. Through those years we've been looked down on like as if we were anti-Americans that wanted to sabotage the economy, the capitalist system and the International Monetary Fund that it was built on (lol). But in the past decade the situation has changed dramatically. Now we don't need to shout about all those things because it's become obvious to everyone that those things have to change. Today one would have to be a moron not to see the consequences of our past actions due to ignorance of those issues. Today we hear political and economic leaders from all regions of our planet speak out in support of ecological issues and about needed changes in the global economy. They are beginning to sound more like we used to sound like decades ago when people took us for radicals. That's also a reason why people today seem to identify hippies with cannabis for example and a lot less with other issues such as ecology or equal rights. The issues we used to speak out on and demonstrate for or against decades ago have become like common household names these days and no one sees anything radical about them. I think that perhaps the legalization of psychoactive substances is just about the last thing we have left on our agenda. And I'm sure that not long from now next generations will be wondering what was all the fuss about that? How primitive we were... And when that's done then hippies will probably become identified with a group of flamboyant old a-holes that are overly intellectual and like getting into some nitty-gritty controversial issues due to lack of better things to pick on. So, I'm not jumping from joy or shouting that we were right and that they were wrong because I'm sad that it had to come to this point. So now, I'm taking a break because I need one and letting the facts speak for themselves. I'm glad others have finally woken up and opened their eyes and want to do something about it. Eurovision 2010

I just saw Eurovision 2010 from Oslo, Norway where they probably think Europe stretches far beyond the European continent, because there were also representatives from Israel, Turkey and Azerbayjan in the competition. Many singers had something that resembled circus acts and dancers around them. But I think Denmark and Cyprus had probably the most interesting songs and artists. Now that I have seen the best music and artists that each of the participating countries had to offer, I came to the conclusion that perhaps European people should leave making music to the African people, who have it in their blood and genes, and who music probably originally came from. The Europeans should perhaps take up some other fields of art such as painting or photography, for example . That's the impression I got after hearing so much bad music on that show. But surprisingly, not everything ended badly. The best thing was that for the first time in 28 years Germany was the finalist. And I like German music next to Dutch, American and British music. But for some reason good German music never seemed to find its way into the competition. Congratulations Germany!

British English & American English

English has more foreign words then any other language in the world because the British people come from different countries and because it has always been open for new influences. American English is a language that is a lot more modern then British English because of modern technologies but otherwise it is a more archaic language then the British English because of Noah Webster. Noah Webster was one of the Fathers of America. He decided to take the opportunity a newly founded nation offered and decided to simplify English spelling. The first group of words such as "colour" were simplified to for ex. "color" in American English. He made those changes in his dictionary that's still being published by his family descendents. That is probably one of the oldest family owned companies. In the Webster's Dictionary he also introduced a new way of registering phonetics in writing. That latter innovation made America English a rigid language that hasn't changed since his times. The American English pronunciation recorded by Webster was the most modern, fashionable and correct pronunciation spoken in England. But after a few hundred years the British English pronunciation evolved to what it is today and American English has become very backward. However, the new words in Amer. Eng. are the most modern at the very same time and are often used worldwide. So you see... Once something is written then it's set in stone and stops developing. The Bible or Webster's Dictionary are examples. That's why when we put anything in writing I believe we should always make room for some doubt and strive to keep doors open for progress.

Down and Out at Easter

Beginnings are especially hard and I'm not the one to give others advice on how to make it through them. But this is Easter and I was brought up on those depressing Catholic Easter traditions. So here's some Easter-time food for thought or to contemplate on over Easter.
Everyone has some kind of cross to carry. To find happiness, fulfillment and sense in life one should identify what that personal cross is, learn to accept it and to carry it well. Self-denial is rejection of one's self. If we could see ourselves as others do we would have the ability to understand ourselves better and to know what to improve on. We could fall many times on the road of life, and at the greatest times of need our closest friends may turn away from us. So at times like these we have only ourselves to depend on, and have to find the strength to get up and continue on our way with that cross of ours. Jesus also had to carry his cross alone but that doesn't have to be everyone's fate through life. So don't identify yourself too strongly with that iconic image. Also, none of his apostles were around when he carried his cross through the winding streets of Jerusalem or at his cross when they crucified him. Only the women that loved him were there. Jesus was crucified because of intolerance. Yet, the greatest mass of the most intolerant people are those that follow the word of the Bible. Just look at what the Jews are doing in Jerusalem, the Catholic homophobia or incapability to move along with progress or the Catholic and Protestant terrorism in Ireland etc. So, what is it exactly that Jesus saved humanity from? Was it from the Romans? Well, that was a long time ago. Today I think we have to be saved from Christianity and in light of the many pedophile abuse cases the Church is also in need of a long overdue Exorcism.

Whatever we do, time will not stand still. It's time that rules. So in that sense, Time is God. Time can be kind or it could be cruel. It could make us rich or poor. Even Jesus could not stop time or turn it back. Time devours/destroys everything and simultaneously at the same time gives birth to everything. Time is a bit like our digestive system that takes in food at the one end, uses it to fuel us and discards the left-over waste products as a natural fertilizer for new life. This is the way the pre-Christian ancients saw time and the beginning of the astrological New Year that begun this year on the 20th of March. That same traditional though is continued in the Christian Easter holiday symbolism because even Christianity couldn't do away with that ancient wisdom. So, Christianity had to assimilate some of that wisdom into its own. Back to the subject of being down and out... When we are down, it's time to raise. And when we are standing up tall, be careful not to fall. Most of all, always be prepared for the worse. Because just as the night follows the day the four spoke wheel of life keeps on turning and turning. One never can be sure what fate awaits around the corner. So, enjoy your every moment and don't fear, help is near. One meets best friends that also have a cross to carry when one is down. And not all crosses are made of wood.

Awareness Is The First Step Towards Change

When one does things for others because one likes doing things for others, then one attracts lots of folks that appreciate having things done for them or getting things for free; not necessarily out of need. But in difficult times, when one needs help different kinds of folks are needed. And that's a different group of rare birds. Yes, one has to have the will to carry on. But what happens when due to some traumatic experiences, a death of a near one or just becoming worn out like an old machine due to old age one loses the desire to carry on and to continue to run in the rat race? What happens when one begins to wait for someone nice to come around knocking on one's door? And nobody does? That often happens to some folks that were engaged in some sort of family, social or public service for many years forgetting that there will come a day when they will in return be in need of some kindness. For example, we have grown used to putting senior citizens in old folks homes and then forgetting about them because we are too busy running after this and that. Modern times expects so much from us. Then when the day comes, we may be forgotten and put into storage because those were the examples our children and the youth were raised on. But that does not pertain only to senior citizens, but also to many socially dysfunctional young people (not to be mistaken with mentally dysfunctional) that have problems finding friends, are also incapable of getting themselves together for various reasons or have gone through some difficult emotional experiences; not necessarily PDS. The world is not perfect, and people need other people not just for company but also to get by. That's what is called humanitarianism. That still is an area that needs a lot of work on. So, we still have lots of things to do in our world and many causes that some could commit to. But one cannot do everything... If one finds an area that one would like to change then why not become an activist for that cause. All one actually has to do in the beginning is to raise other peoples' attention to the problem or issue.

Awareness is the first step towards change. But without the trust of others; especially the authorities that stand on guard, ones good intentions and actions may be futile. That's why when there are social problems the public blames the government. But there is a will to change things in Washington today, and that's already a great change unlike any other that we've seen before. However, that is no cause for joy. That is just the first step on a long road to something new. So let's hope for the best and wish the President the strength needed to make the needed changes.

Clothes As A Form of Art

I've spent lots of time at naturist beaches esp. during the '80s and wouldn't mind living in a clothes free world if not for the problems with the ozone layer. I used to laugh at the sight of textile people paying for striptease shows, Playboys, Playgirls and porn. I thought they were crazy to long for something as natural as that. But that was years ago. Now I look at porn as exciting works of art that make me wish I could return to those days and that paradise. As to dressing like the textiles do, I've got suits and dress shoes but I don't like wearing them, and can't remember when was the last time I wore them. Perhaps last year to an interview. My favorite type of clothes are short pants, Hawaiian shirts, sandals and sneakers (Vans Authentic and Converse All Star). But the climate I'm in now requires warm clothes because it's cold most of the year. As to earrings and tattoos. I've got both ears pierced but no tattoos because I've never been able to find any design or symbol that would be universal enough for me to advertise on my body for the rest of my days. A tattoo is a serious decision I haven't been able to commit to. But I like tattoos and couldn't imagine for example Axl Rose without the cross on his arm. I suppose when it becomes popular for conservatives and rednecks to dress like liberals then liberals will start dressing like conservatives and rednecks. That's probably because dressing for many folks is a way of expressing their worldviews and how they feel. So, that's why I see it as a form of art.

A few additional words about footwear. My favorites from the 60s to this day are Vans Authentic and Converse All Star. The Converse All Star sneakers were required in schools for gym practice so students wouldn't damage parquet basketball floors. So I started wearing old pairs during the vacation for everyday use early in elementary school. I guess many other kids did the same. That's probably how the fashion for those started. Vans came out in about 1966. They were a lot more comfortable to put on. They didn't have the shoe strings to mess around with and held on to skateboards, surfboards and wooden floors really well. The Converse All Star sneakers became very fashionable outside the USA in Germany and lately in Poland, for example among some artists.

Snobby Hippie Consumer Goods

Hippies also have certain snobby consumer goods that they like to own such as Birkenstock sandals, for example. The truth is I'm also a bit snobby that way and wear Birk sandals whenever I can. I also have a couple pair of Birkenstock shoes that I bought cheaply at auctions when I was still employed. The shoes and sandals look like crap but they're the only ones I can walk miles in without feeling that I've actually walked so many miles. But around the house or at a beach or pool I like to wear Dr. Scholl's Monterey or Aquajets just to give the competition equal credit. Lets not forget the tie-died shirts, beads, rings, earrings, pendants and all the other hippie paraphernalia. Unfortunately, those are not things to wear when going to Holland or other more conservative places because the folks there like to be a bit more toned down; unless if one's gay and wants the whole world to know about it or how proud one is; other signs of minority group inferiority complexes.

I've been interested in how to repair the damaged hippie image, and I think that if hippies lived in trendy neighborhoods, drove Corvettes, Cadillacs or Benzes painted in psychedelic flower designs, wore Rolexes or Cartier tank watches in addition to the second hand store stuff then others may change their opinions about them. That's because most people aren't as intuitive as hippies and judge others by the way they look. The only problem with that idea is that one would have to be able to find a well paying post that would tolerate those that dresse in such a fashion and live such a flamboyant lifestyle. So, that's where it ends. But at least in European fashions things seem to be heading that way. Instead of for example buying a pair of jeans, a coat or a shirt in a second hand shop for just a couple Euros, it's becoming extremely fashionable to pay lots of bread for stuff that looks like it's been worn by one's Parents and been washed a few thousands times. No self-respecting modern British guy would for example wear a brand new suit without sleeping in it first for a week or two. So, things are evolving to higher states of consciousness in the fashion world. Members of sub-cultures such as the hippies are like art. The difference between an ordinary object and a great work of art is that the art brings about a revolution of perception of reality. Therefore all I can say is, let's hope for a revolution.

Did Yuppies sell out?

Since the December 31, 1984 Newsweek article about Yuppies there has been a lot of disagreement on the issue if yuppies (young urban professionals) are former 1960s hippies that sold out. Well, the truth is that many hippies did sell out. Just take a look at how many are on the Web, for example. Today in many countries, hippies are associated with drugs, hobos and people that don't bathe more the twice a month instead of the ideas they represented in the years of the 1960s revolution. It seems that the line between hobos and hippies has become very thin. I think yuppies have an advantage over hippies in that respect. The hippie movement lasted less then a decade. Now when I read about hippies in encyclopedias, dictionaries and other places it seems that people forgot what the movement was all about, why youth protested, ran away from home, lived on the streets, took drugs etc. A lot of that also became a fashionable thing to do because of the many newspaper and magazine articles, music scene and TV stories. So, many young people headed for the trendiest places such as Haight-Ashbury, Greenwich Village, Chicago's Old Town, Amsterdam, Rotterdam or went to India and other places like that. So, I suppose that when the War was over people went off in different directions. Not all hippies dedicated their lives to ecology or saving the planet. The main issue with the society were the Vietnam War and the draft. When those were resolved the movement ended in the early '70s. But also started with a delay for youths in other countries that followed the trend. Those that protested and became hippies to be trendy or to do what their peers were doing may have sold out because they never really did it for any other reasons. For me, the movement was an ideological one with a mission, which I believe we've accomplished. I say accomplished because if one remembers how gray the world was in those days, and how much ignorance there was on so many issues like racism, homophobia, anti-feminism, ecology, birth control etc. compared to what we have today, then we have come a long way. Hippies were like switching on color TV in a black & white TV era. The hippie style started with the colorful Mod fashions from London and mixed with other original ideas from America such as the bellbottoms and tie-dies. It was like a splash of electrifying colors on a bray canvas. And coincidently, black & white TVs were being replaced with color TVs in every American home at about the same time. It was a time of revolution and the ideas that were formulated in the minds of the youth of that time still reverberate around our planet. And yes, I believe that psychedelics had a lot to do with that awakening of awareness. But that would be an entirely different subject. So, the yuppies that have sold out are probably those that wanted to be with the in-crowd and did what was the in thing to do. And I believe that many of us were like that too because people like being in with others on the latest things. That's how social progress is made. Those of us that were in some way formed by the hippie movement and things that revolved around it still strongly identify with it. People are different and it's difficult to speak for others. But just imagine going for surgery. Would you prefer to have a hippie surgeon operate on you or one that's not a hippie? Certain professions require a different frame of mind. So personally, I don't expect everyone that once was a hippie to be as they were because various professions and other walks of life that they may have taken require different frames of mind.

HEL, Please Stop That

What if the very system that is supposed to look out for us has become malicious and has turned against us like HAL in 2001 Space Odessy? A roaring beast with a flashing blue light for an eye that's waving it's arms, fists and clubs in all directions looking for the next fight to fight or someone to tell where his or her place is. And what if it's leaders, economy and subjects became dependent on the adrenalin rush power gives them? Since Alexander the Great's times there were such powers in the past, for example Rome. We still have such smaller scale powers in our times that could serve as an example of how a system that was formed with the peoples' support could turn against them almost the very minute it came to power. Then, how it isolated its subjects within its borders. And it wouldn't had happened without the support of a large portion of its population. So, how do people agree to have things like that done to them? Well, that would be a subject for a book by a sociologist or a teem of sociologists. I don't like writing just know things from personal experience and observation. Getting back to the subject. The first important thing to have for mind control is a good, noble cause that most folks would agree on. It could be opposition of a cruel or corrupt leader, an evil social system, a bad monarch, dirty city streets, sex scandal (works only in America) etc. Then, most often there has to be some kind of enemy or evil that the public has to be told over and over again to protest against and then to hate for some good reasons. Yes, "good" plays an important role in mind control. It doesn't have to be anything very elaborate, something on a local scale proved to work just as well as an evil from abroad in the past. Once that's been settled the rest is easy. If a leader is good in talking with a calm and gentle voice or with a lot of fanatic enthusiasm, depending on what works best within a given culture, the public could be made to believe that everything that they've been deprived of was done for their own good or the good of the nation, environment or the children. Children are always a good cause for justifying anything. The public could even be made to believe that eating worms or grass are very healthy and tasty. The latter works best with the next generations. And foreigners that find those disgusting would naturally become examples of the utmost ignorance that prevails in the other cultures. We have also witnessed such social techniques in our country but in a different edition in recent times. So, there's no reason to laugh and think that we are immune to them. Even now, we have a similar thing with the ban on smoking in public places. And many of us will agree that it is the right thing to do because we don't smoke. So why should the minority blow smoke in our direction, who do they think we are? Who knows if in the near future it won't turn into a total ban on smoking just like the ones on hard drugs. Cigarette smokers will be jailed for possession of tobacco, and smuggling cartels will be making billions on the growing fashion of cigarette smoking among members of sub-cultures as an expression of personal freedom and rebellion against the machine. Yes, the systems we fought for, created and that we supported could turn against us, and it already has on many occasions in the past without anyone even noticing it. So, how's it done? I think the answer would be that it's done very cleverly. And, why do they do that if Freedom tastes so good? Perhaps because nibbling on our freedom tastes good.

Poverty in the World

It's difficult to be happy when others are worse off. But we also have reasons to complain because our society expects a lot more from us then we can meet. And one cannot have everything. If one would have everything then there'd still be reasons for complaining. Happiness and unhappiness go hand in hand. Happiness also depends on the settings one lives in and on one's needs for personal development. If one lives in an environment that is not very demanding then one's standards will be lower and small things will make one happy and there will be so many things still waiting to be had. But if one lives in an environment where the neighbors have all the latest things then life could turn into a real rat race after those goods and other things needed for keeping up with the Joneses. That's because we are competitive beings. The same is true when it comes to learning, sex, love, parenting, spirituality etc. There is competition in every field and it's like an ongoing race after this and that. People want to be like their neighbors or other folks that they identify with. We need others and we also need some solitude. That need to be with others and yet in the safety of our own little rooms is behind some of the most successful inventions of our time such as the Internet. But we also need to eat, wear descent clothes, to look after our families, to pay the bills etc. So, I believe that is the problem John Smith, Karol Marx and Lenin foresaw coming with the age of industrialization. But things went their own way and their solutions were the worse ones that happened to millions of people that found themselves under Communism. It turned out that their solution was worse then if they just let things go their own way. However, thanks to their blunders as well as the fear of spread of Communism, many European countries turned socialistic and provided wonderful social benefits for their residents so they wouldn't fall below a given poverty line. I believe we also have some of that in the American social care system. And it would be awesome if national insurance would be part of it.

We have left the jungle a long time ago, destroyed it and the life that it harbored. Lets build a better world, in which we will become the caretakers of our planet. We are not cold and ignorant beings that can't see the harm we've done and the poverty, suffering and unhappiness that surrounds us on the planet. How can anyone feel pride of living in luxury and opulence (including places such as the Vatican) when there are so many in need in places such as Africa? Yes, we also have problems but compared to those others we are very wealthy and successful. Wealth and success also depends on the measure. Our society is higher developed and expects more from us then if we were for example in Africa where only a few have access to water, a meal or electricity, for example. But I feel that there should be some kind of descent limit on what one actually needs to live on and on wealth. I liked Michael Jackson and Elvis but I also believe that the American dreams that they and others like them created for many Americans and people of the world to meet are way overboard and indecent in light of how little of that would make others happy and the Christian values Americans are so eager to propagate to others. Socialistic Holland

For a broader understanding of the world it's important to know where we came from, where we are today and where we are heading. Currently, there is one great empire, the USA and two rising ones, the EU and China. There are ecological changes, economic changes and there is a need for a new world order because there are more and more of us coming to this world every day. Millions of people on our planet are starving or living below the poverty line while over 90% of the world's wealth is owned by 1% of the world's population. That 1% has more then they know what to do with and many of them are in America. I like the socialist systems in the old EU countries such as Holland where the wealthiest poor people in the world live and also the poorest wealthy people in the world live happily side by side. And where there are many races living together in a pragmatic and tolerant environment. That's where I found good examples to follow. Though not everything's perfect there either. But it's a lot better then other places I've seen.

What Comes After Sex?

What comes after sex? After sex comes a time to relax and take it easy. We often forget that humans are just a higher developed form of animal life. It seems to me that the Jewish people had some major problems controlling that part of their nature, and that they were a bit greedy. So they became overly concerned about it. Hence, the three major religions that are based on the Biblical lore that follows the Ten Commandments are in that line of thinking. Take a look at the Ten Commandments that Moses wrote. Yes, he wrote them after forgetting the Twenty Commandments he received earlier from God, and also after ordering some of his people killed or punished for worshipping the golden calf. Remember that Biblical story? Take a closer look at the order of the Ten Commandments. What is the first Commandment, the second, the third etc? Do they sound a bit egocentric? Like Dude, you keep your hands off my woman, respect your Father and follow My One and Only Truth or else I could kill you in the name of that higher truth because that is a lesser wrong? Yes, the sixth commandment is "Thou shell not kill". Why is it the sixth and not the first? If I were an expert at making character portraits of people I'd get the impression that Moses was a guy who though killing was a lesser crime then the previous ego-centered ones. So, I guess there's no wonder those religions consider killing in the name of God a lesser wrong or even the right thing to do. I hope the Reader understands how the order of in this case the laws that they have been "programmed" on since birth and our world was built on influence peoples' subconscious, their judgement and visions of reality. What if those fundations were rotten and nobody dared to look down at their roots to notice that? Then we would have a rotten tree giving rotten fruit in the logic of the effect being like the source.

Other ancient cultures such as for example American Indian, the Indo-European pre-Christian ones, Romans, Aryans etc. didn't see anything unnatural about for example homosexuality, wife swapping, prostitution, pedophiles and other human needs of the heart. And there were not many pedophiles then because it was natural for kids to go running around naked. So, there was no cause for people to become sexually aroused at the sight of naked kids as it has become in our times. So, the question was "what comes after sex"? My answer would be that after sex comes life. When one has no need to feel that someone is looking down on him or her for their need to express love or to receive it then generally speaking I believe that person would be happier then those that must suppress such needs and deny them. I believe there is too much moralizing done today by major religions and our authorities that are supposed to be separated from the Church. In my opinion, none of them; especially the Catholic Church with all those child molestations cases are not competent to judge the needs of the human heart and soul. Therefore I reject their authority in those respects.

The Web presence I've achieved makes me look about 500% better then I am in real life (lol). But It doesn't pay my bills, just generates more bills. I am an introverted type of person and the Net is made for geeks like myself. That's the Maya (magic) of the WWW. I've been on the Web for well over a decade for a hobby and I have no idea how I could make money on it; though I know many people do that with great success. Webmastering lets me forget about my problems in the real world and has become a means for self-improvement. It's also a place where I can share my music and other stuff with others. Not until just recently have I been thinking of how to make a living on the Web simply because I've moved my life from the real world to the virtual world and the virtual world's turned out to be my "real" world.

Jails for Rent in Holland

A lot of dishonesty is created by those that claim to be at the guard of our societies. Countries that have very restrictive laws often have frustrated and aggressive residents and overcrowded jail cells because of that. Here's a recent example from Europe... Belgium is a lot more restrictive then Holland. For that reason jails in Belgium are overcrowded and the Dutch jails have lots of room and great conditions to live in.

Poland also has overcrowded jails because it is a lot more restrictive then Belgium; though both countries have more liberal laws then the US or England, for example. Prostitution, gambling and homosexuality have been legal long before other countries liberalized their laws on those. Yes, there's lots of homophobia in Poland but that's due to the Catholic programming since birth. Also, until about 2000 marihuana and other drugs have been legal in Poland since as long as anyone could remember. It's sad to say, but post-communist Poland has become less tolerant and more restrictive under the influence of the Catholic Church and its fascination with the more restrictive Southern Belt American model of culture. So, many Poles have run into problems with the law in other countries because they failed to realize that certain things such as for ex. nudity or washing kids with their hands (Texas case where a Pole was jailed for that) that they always took for granted were not allowed in other places. Ironically, many have gone abroad looking for more freedom. But those that left their country looking for a better paying job I'm sure found what they were looking for. In my opinion, the Poles also have a problem in sorting out what they should keep from their indigenous European culture and what they should upgrade to modern standards after the many decades of isolation under the Soviet communist system. Under the Communist system as well as in a more restrictive society such as the US, people can be easily blackmailed into all kind of collaboration... That is the week point!

So, the level of honesty in a given society is dictated largely by the law system. A more restrictive system creates a more dishonest society and a more liberal one will create a more open and honest society.

Homophobia In Amsterdam

The gay community in Amsterdam in the Netherlands has recently been met with a lack of understanding from the city authorities. North American gay liberation spread across the world and caught on in some freedom oriented centers of the world such as Amsterdam. And now the rest of Europe is trying to catch up to Amsterdam while Amsterdam authorities seem to be trying to take a few steps back in that respect. Anyone who's ever been to a gay neighborhood in for example Chicago, New York or San Francisco will notice that the gay scene in Amsterdam is rather small by American standards. Therefore, I believe that many American gay tourists expect Amsterdam, the gay capitol of Europe to be a lot gayer then it is. But in stead of that, the city authorities seem to be wanting to take a few steps back in its attitudes towards the gay community, the cannabis culture and the Red Light district. If those will become less present in the city then I believe Amsterdam will loose it's character and appeal to many tourists that made the city one of the most popular tourist destinations of the world.

Bathhouses For Peace & Happiness

I think one way to do away with some of the walls that we have among people in our times would be to open local bathhouses so people could have a place where they could take their clothes off, let their hair down and meet others. Roman baths, Turkish baths, Russian baths (for men and women at same time), Finish saunas or even the YMCA are great places for healthy entertainment and where one could meet some friendly and open-minded people. But most of all they have always been places where social status seized to exist and where members of high society socialized with menial workers and peasants.

And I know how this works from personal experience. There was such a club that I used to check into for some weekends in the 1970s. The music, sound system, the sundeck, sauna, pool, darkroom, buffet, stage shows etc were great. The rooms were cheep and the guests were mostly young and beautiful just like me (lol). And all that on four large floors of an inconspicuous industrial building in Chicago. I still have the plastic membership card somewhere but now I think they'd kick me out because I'm old and gray (lol).

I remember hearing the Jefferson Starship album "Dragon Fly" for the first time there. The last long song on the album called "Hyperdrive" still gives me flashbacks of that place and its mysterious atmosphere too. The owner was an extravagant Chicago millionaire, a nightclub owner and publisher that changed America in many ways esp. in the 1970s. He was also a friend of President Carter. But I can't say more because this was mostly behind the screens type of stuff. I also remember seeing John Belishi there a few months before he died. The place used to be always packed with guests from wall to wall esp. on weekends, and there were often many well known faces there too. But it was a cheep place for someone on a small budget where members could rent a locker or check in for a night or two, get a private room, have a drink, a pizza, meet new friends and mingle with some really beautiful people from around the world for just a few bucks. That was really awesome. I think everyone should have access to such facilities today. I believe that it would make people a lot friendlier, peaceful and happier. All we would have to do is just to let go of our Christian inhabitations and revive that which was good and natural for the ancients in pre-Christian times.

I Am A Lot Like Poland

I am a lot like Poland is. I've come up with many ideas and inspired others to take action or to see things they have not seen before, but almost never got any credit for it. Now, no sooner I shared my opinion about slot machines in Polish stores in my hippy group; out of the blue the government is taking action to amend the law and limit slot machines only to Casinos. Or today, everyone in Europe is celebrating the fall of the Berlin wall forgetting that it all began in Poland with the Pope from Poland and the Solidarity Movement, which brought about the fall of Communism even in Russia. And what about the American Revolution? Many know that the French Revolution was because the Masons ran France bankrupt by financing the American Revolution. But no one except for a few persons I know, know that Poland became insolvent for the same reason, and then became divided between its creditors: Russia, Austria, Germany and France at almost the same time. So, the Poles paid a very high price for the freedom of others and never got any credit for it. In fact, the Polish royalty did everything possible to keep that a secret in fear of an uprising and getting beheaded. I am not a rich philanthropist but often acted like one esp. in Poland. And many American Poles acted like that too to help others in Poland. I do what my heart tells me because I was brought up that way. But that is a quality I have to overcome and change because it's not getting me anywhere and Poles in Poland were brought up on other values. In fact it's become a real problem for me in Poland. I think Poles also have to learn to be less self-centered (Pole-land = because it was where the center of Europe used to be) and realize that they no longer represent the heart of Europe but have moved a bit too far towards the East because of their past flamboyant lifestyles and philanthropic weaknesses. And that is very apparent in Warsaw where there are streets lined with palaces by well known Italian architects in what's left of Warsaw after WWII in the old part of town. Also, the country that has the largest amount of beautiful Baroque architecture in Europe, which were constructed when it still was a powerful European nation.

Poland is a country that has many people that are wealthy inside in their souls. For that reason I feel more at home here then in other places. But they have been through such hardships and trials that they've become a bit too immune to injustice and the sight of suffering of others. So my problems are not seen here as any kind of problems as long as I pay the bills. If I fail to do that then they'll throw the book at me and kick me out. There's nothing they hate more then poor foreigners; though I'm not exactly a foreigner but that's how they see me 'cause I'm a Polish American. The new rich are business people that are overly straight looking and try to be overly correct but seem to behave rather robot-like and oddly at the dinner table. Those people are really getting on my nerves and vice verse because they see that I can see their complexes (lol). Telepathic skills and the ability of taking on "other bodies" (to assimilate to the environment or to create a recognizable mirror image for the onlooker) can work like a double edged sward. They can work well in a highly developed environment. But otherwise, someone higher developed will have to take on a body that is lower developed... Rather hard to explain, if you know what I mean. But I don't know any better way to explain this phenomena. If the Reader's experienced this sort of thing then he or she will understand what I'm trying to say.

Slot Machines In My Neighborhood

I am having some financial problems lately, but I'm not dumb enough to try my luck putting a few coins into a slot machine in any of the establishments that operate them in my area because I know how they can become addictive and that it's extremely difficult to hit the jackpot. But yesterday I was doing some shopping in a nearby produce store, and for the first time in my life, heard the sounds of tons of coins pouring out of one of those Bally slot machines they had installed in the adjoining room. Just like in the movies. I've never actually seen anyone win on a slot machine, and never knew one could win so much on one of those. So, I was shocked all the more and sorry it wasn't me. The winning drew everybody's attention and all eyes were turned on the winner and the machine. Wish I had put a coin into that machine. But I've never been interested in gambling and gambling's always been illegal in most of the U.S. But things are different in Poland. The local law allows for small jackpots but it appears that some slot machine owners like the one in that store bend the law a bit and set them up way over the allowed limits. So the winnings could be in thousands of dollars or euros in some cases. They do that because of the competition on the market. So I got interested in the gambling situation here and found that I happen to live in a city that has the most casinos and slot machines in Poland. Gee, and I thought that there were too many brothels in my neighborhood and the real problem some Christian fundamentalists were going against were pedophiles and pornographic magazines displayed for sale next to chewing gum and children's magazines in the windows of kiosks (news stands) on the city streets. But unlike those, the casinos are not allowed to do any advertising. So, I was not aware that there were so many in my area. So I got interested and did some checking, and found this informative website. Maybe if the Poles weren't so prudent, allowed for coffeeshops like the ones in Amsterdam, legalized recreational drugs and did away with their homophobia (though its not as bad as it was in America) this wouldn't be such a bad place to live.

We're Living In The Future Now

Not many of us realize how much we are living in the past, present and future in our times. We've often talked about the 60s, 70s and other past events, about present day events and about the future, but we have in a way blocked in our minds that we are actually living in the future right now. And the future has far surpassed the wisest of visionaries' wildest imaginations. For example, the Hollywood visionaries have imagined our times to be a lot different from what they turned out to be. Some imagined that we would be invaded by Martians, while it is we that are actually invading Mars in order to exploit the planet for selfish ambitions of our kind in the Universe. Others imagined that we will become enslaved and controlled by a super intelligent computer or by sophisticated monitoring systems. Well, the truth is that the laptop computer I am writing this post on is far more sophisticated then anyone in those days could have imagined, has 80 Gigabits of memory on it's HD and yet it has not gotten control over me or had to be plugged into my brain. But on the other hand, isn't that what most cigarette smokers, social drinkers and addicts say? That they are not addicted. The monitoring systems and face recognition software we have in shops and on the streets have not yet taken control over our lives. Though, I hope the men that use the equipment won't be tempted to do that. We also don't need the services of slick guys like Johnny Mnemonic anymore to offer their brains for smuggling just a mere 80 Gigabits of digital memory. What's 80 Gb or 160 Gb today? I still like watching those old flicks (though not so old), and appreciate that those visions of coming disasters when we would have developed those types of technologies were so wrong. But just in case, lets nock on wood anyhow, if you know what I mean. Because one never knows what evils lurks in the minds of man.

Things Were Different in 1960-70s

Things were different in the 60-70s. The UN flag represented a positive power in the world, there weren't any monitoring devices in shopping centers or on the town and violent crimes were on the rise after the death penalty was abolished. I'm still against the death penalty because also ordinary people lived in fear of being wrongly accused of crimes they didn't commit. But, there still were many homeless and impoverished people. The only social system that I have seen that did away with unemployment, impoverishment and homelessness was communism. But that was done at a great cost to the majority, which had to lower its standards of living and give to the state many of its institutions, real-estate and businesses. After that was done, everyone lived a very modest life that was almost totally controlled by the state. And everything an individual did was done for the benefit of the state, the commune. And then totalitarian authorities came into power, abused power in every possible way and went after any signs of rebellion. Having lived for a time under capitalist, communist and other experimental systems, I have been trying to pin down some of the fundamental and basic building blocks needed to create a better social system without the same pitfalls, but I'm still working on it...

Viva St. Francis

Perhaps I'm too idealistic and have too high expectations from those that expect me to follow them. But I live on the Franciscan Street near a Franciscan Church that is one of the oldest in the city, and I was brought up in Franciscan schools that were run by Franciscans. And I believe Franciscan ideas and values were in conflict with those of the Vatican and other clerics in the times of St. Francis. And if not for the conniving methods of the Pope and his clerics the followers of St. Francis would have never found themselves under the roof of the Church, that they were questioning and in some opposition to. Therefore, I feel that in a way I am following the Franciscan ways and have managed to do what St. Francis and his followers failed to do; to leave those blokes and move on to higher things.

Governments, Keep Out!

I want governments out of my life but that's almost impossible to do. I've lived under different governments in different countries and they all seem to have one thing in common, they all act like the Mafia. They want a share of their residents' earnings, and if they don't get it they'll send their musclemen to kick their butt. And it gets even worse if one happens to be a citizen. Govs also expect people to abide by many laws that, to put it lightly, were not always well thought out. But what makes some governments better then others is what they do for the less fortunate, the unemployed and the taxpayers. Those that redistribute the "protection money" are considered to be socialistic. And the more socialistic they become the more social permission they can get from taxpayers to be more brutal with delinquents because it is believed that they are doing what they have to do for the good of the community and the nation.

More serious problems arise when govs become too brutal and start asking for too much and giving back not enough. Those types of govs are bringing about their own downfall because there is a point where their subjects will have enough of them and begin to rebel. So in order to avoid such unavoidable consequences, walls are created and communications are limited between the less fortunate and more fortunate neighbors. Success propaganda and strong nationalism mixed with hatred of some real or imaginary enemy are skillfully employed to brainwash the subjects into believing that they are being protected by their govs and that they are better then others in the world. Yes, I wish we could be free from governments but perhaps such freedom is also an utopia. And yet there are those that believe a God has died for us to set us free. But I wish they would tell us exactly what it was exactly that we've been freed from? Because that sort of belief seems to be just another kind of belief people have been brainwashed into believing in so they could put some money into someone else's purse in exchange for divine protection.

Time 4 Change

The past five years were somewhat different from other times in my life. It was a wonderful time in which I was able to do the things I've always wanted to do on the Web, to meet others and to do some traveling. But all good things have to come to an end at one time or another. And that time has come for my laptop. Now I have to change my lifestyle and spend less time on the Internet because my laptop broke down, I've been out of work for a some time and have to give up many things now. But I knew that was coming and that those machines made in Japan have a limited lifespan built into them. However, I didn't know it was set for just five years. Now I know it is the way those things are made and I think it should be illegal to make parts like that... In those five years I've managed to complete most of the projects I've started on the Web, done some travelling and other stuff that I'm somewhat proud of. Though I will have limited Internet access, that doesn't mean that I won't be checking the mail and doing other things on the Web. I will still be doing those things.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has invited me to join their Facebooks, YouTubes, Myspaces, Yahoo360s, Flickrs, Tweetles, etc, etc, etc... I apologise if I haven't been too sociable on those sites, but there is just so much one man can do, and so much new Web 2.0 services popping up every month that I am unable to keep up with or to do all the social networking I'm expected to do.

When I started my first website www.PolishHippy.com there were no Web 2.0 services available like they are today. So, my webpages were the only places on the Web where I could be found; a home on the Web with my photos, stories, music and other things that I wanted to share with friends and others. Now, there are many Web 2.0 services that can do almost the same without the need of learning HTML and all the other technical stuff needed to create and maintain a Web site.

I am writing this message from a friend's PC, and as I said I will be using the Internet a lot less in the future; probably mostly from other people's PCs, cafes, and an old second-hand WiFi enabled cell phone I've just gotten.

The Madonna Effect

Today is 15th of August and it's a great national holiday in this region of Europe and in Poland. It is the Assumption of Mary, and all Catholics and other Christians celebrate it. But in Poland the holiday is often called by an ancient name from pre-Christian times. It is called the holiday of "The Herbal Divine Mother" (Matka Boska Zielna). The Holiday is celebrated by giving herbal and agricultural products as offerings to the Divine Mother - the Madonna at feasts and other religious events. And it's also probably not a coincidence that the pop star Madonna is giving a sold out concert in Warsaw, Poland at this very moment today. More magic is to come tomorrow when she celebrates her 51st birthday. Gee, what a coincidence, isn't it?

Now I'll move on to the subject of "the Madonna effect". DMT is a psychedelic substance found in some herbs and also in the human body. It is responsible for spiritual experiences in the brain and the mind. And I don't think it's a coincidence many folks are having uplifting spiritual experiences at this time of year. The time of year also plays an important role in the things we experience in states of altered consciousness produced by astronomical events, the weather, rubbing shoulders with those that inspire us and other such stimulants. So, I discovered the Madonna Effect today when I realized how an important active agent the pop star is and many other artists like her.

I call her an active agent because she stimulates in her fans the DMT substance that is naturally found in the human body. That stimulation in return produces a psychedelic effect in peoples' brains that could be very helpful in the treatment of many forms of dogmatic mind related ailments that could produce such pathological states as inertia, frustration, mental restraints, phobias, an over all feeling of unhappiness and confinement etc.; thus I call them "mental inhibitants" as opposed to the "mental stimulants" that have a positive mind-expanding and healing quality. And there are three major groups of those agents: the mind inhibiting agents; mind expanding agents and those that are somewhere in-between those two.

The Place of Hippies
And Counter-Cultures
in the American Society

Our government is for the people and by the people. And we are the people that keep guard that the government doesn't get derailed by financial interests and lobbyists. And when it does then we the people have to step in and try to get it back on track again. That is the place of hippies and many other members of counter-cultures in our society. That is also how we show our patriotism for free, not asking for anything in return other then peace and compassion. But in return many of us have been thought of being anti-American, have gotten little recognition from those that think of themselves to be patriotic Americans. In spite of all that, we continue to carry that burden, that cross and that dreams of a better world. So, we continue serving that American dream of liberty, peace and the pursuit of happiness to all who may have forgotten the fundamental ideas that this nation was created for.

The 21.12.2012 Prophecy

We just survived the Armageddon of the year 2000 (or 2001) and now there's 2012 coming around the bend. Can't say that there's little going on these days. We're certainly living in interesting times. I wonder if anyone has taken on the subject of explaining how the Hindu or Vedic calendar is also in agreement with all of those 2012 prophecies and if this is the commence of the Kali Yuga? I see another subject related to 2012 that someone should make a documentary on. It's how the Mayans managed to foresee the Christian calendar and align theirs with it, or perhaps was it the other way around? In any case, my advice is to avoid groups that promise to save people or to take them to a better dimension through altering their life span or thinning out their wallets.

Perhaps all of that is just the working of the human imagination aligned to some rarely recurring celestial events. Whatever it may be, perhaps I should stay in the geographical location on the globe that I'm in because it seems to be a kind of safe haven in the event of a global climate change or catastrophe. 2012 will certainly be the year of the UEFA European Soccer Championships in Poland, that the country is preparing for today. It will also be the year when it will be switching from Zloty (Guldens or Goldens in Eng.) to the Euro. There will also be a Presidential election in the States, which will be of some historical significance. And lets not forget the Rainbow gathering that I would love to attend if I wasn't broke and planning on watching it all on TV, just like the rest of the ignorant mortals. I just wonder why the UN and governments of the world that are supported by the taxpayers are not doing anything to prepare us for the disaster of 2012. I certainly will get ready and do my shopping early and perhaps sign up for cable TV so I could watch it all on CNN with a bear and a joint in my hand if CNN will still be around 'cause Edger Casey mentioned Atlanta and NY going underwater and the Great Lakes flooding everything down the Mississippi. (Wow, I wonder if that long sentence wouldn't make the World Book of Records?) That would also mean that there should be a plunge of real estate prices in the effected areas and perhaps a chance for some to get a piece of Manhattan property in the Trump Towers for just pennies. But the Japanese will get the real stick up their ass and plunge into some really deep waters and end all washed up on their Manhattan real estate investments. I can't believe how calm they are about all of that. Shouldn't someone warn them? Wow, that's a lot to ponder over a large pizza and some bear with friends. Isn't it?

Being a Nondoer

Outside the Web, I am a nondoer. When one is not very active one doesn't emit much energy, through which people notice other people. An income is also a form of energy that people get from doing things that bring them an income. But how could one who doesn't do much make on income on not doing much? That is what I'm interested in learning about. The things I like doing nobody is willing to pay me for. And the things I've tried to sell just don't sell. But I'm happy to give away the things I've created. However, the landlord and the people at the grocery store don't share my worldviews and lifestyle. So it is a problem for me. I've experienced people walking into me in public places because I was "invisible" to them. Being introverted has always been a problem. But the Web has changed that. On the Web I've become an exhibitionist (LOL). Whaaat a change. So I can do a lot with websites, HTML, DNS, DP and do all my own graphics too, but I don't have a diploma or a Certificate to prove that. So I don't make a living in the IT field. The problem with the world is that one has to make a living doing something or other, which very often is not what we are really interested in doing.

BTW, I'm happy to announce that I've just finished a Teaching Business English course at a London college and hope that it will help me land a part-time teaching job. It was an easy course because I've been teaching Business English but didn't have the right credentials, and employers want Diplomas and Certificates when looking for a job. So, now I've got one. But honestly, can you imagine me, a guy in late 50s with earrings in both ears that never wears a suit and with sneakers on his feet teaching Business English to some square white-ass Polish business people? Somehow I could imagine myself doing just that. But I wonder how many employers will share that vision with me? Time will tell...

Hippies in Communist Poland

I have a negative opinion about early hippies in Poland, when Poland was a part of the Soviet communist block. That's mainly because my 1960s American hippie nickname was "The Polish Hippy" and now it is often wrongly associated with early hippies in Poland. And there are other reasons for that too...
I was at an event in Warsaw's Old Town in Poland a couple days ago where some people that called themselves hippies promoted a book about the hippie movement in Poland. The book had many beautiful pictures. The black and white ones were probably from the late 1970s and the color ones from at least 1990s because Kodak color films were rarely used in Poland or the former communits countries before that. They used Agfa films then. Pictures made with Agfa films had a different color balance then those made on Kodak films. But let's get back on the subject... What kind of hippie movement was there in Poland in the 1960s? I visited Poland in 1969 and did not find any hippies. The closest thing to a hippie movement in Poland was the Solidarity movement, but that was in the late 1970s and 1980s. Other then that, there was a handful of young Poles trying to imitate hippies that they probably read about in some newspaper articles that got through the communist censorship. But they never held protests, love-ins, happenings or got into woman's rights, gay rights, ecology, sexual liberation, mind expansion, psychedelic drugs or Yoga and any other kind of liberation other then sitting around tourist areas and panhandling. From personal experiences, I can honestly say that it was a bunch of homophobic and anti-Semitist young Catholics with little understanding of what hippies were really about. Though, perhaps there may have been a few exceptions that I did not manage to come across. So in my opinion, it was just fashionable to look like a hippie, to listen to Western music and to get stoned but not on marihuana or LSD but on alcohol and the worst kinds of homemade opium based hard drugs. And that was not what hippies were really about. I think they got it all wrong. So, it irritates me to hear about 1970s hippies in Poland. I should also mention that in spite of the long hair and the things we took for symbols of liberal, counter-culture leftists, the pseudo hippies I've come across in Poland were extreme right wing nationalists with narrow world views. So, the only thing I think the Polish hippies brought about in Poland were the many drug rehab centers and a negative opinion about hippies. Sometimes I wonder if it wasn't some kind of KGB divertive operation in those days of communism to discredit hippies because the last thing the communists probably wanted was the spread of such a freedom movement on their territory.

People forget what 1960s hippy movement was really about. Here's a definition of "Hippie" (also spelled "Hippy") from Wikipedia. You won't find much mention of the Vietnam War, Civil Rights or the Peace Movement in it. It seems that everyone forgot what hippies were about and what they stood for, and that's the problem. As I remember, hippies were about peace and love, and in opposition to war, the military, corporations, pollution of the environment, civil rights and many other things that were wrong in the world. Long hair, music, colorful clothes and gatherings were ways of getting the message across to the world and became recognizable parts of the counter-culture hippie lifestyle. Protests were not held everyday and we had an everyday life to lead. But all that people seem to remember about hippies today is just the drugs that were a part of the lifestyle.

The 1960s hippie movement was strongly against the Vietnam War and ended with the end of the Vietnam War. How can anyone forget that? But the lifestyle and the ideas hippies shared continued... Today, almost every peace march or anti-war protest across the world uses the same peace signs and slogans that were used for the first time by hippies in the 1960s Peace Movement. And hippies were the chief participants and organizers of the Peace movement, Greenpeace and many other groups and counter-culture movements that followed. Even the Love Parades that were held in Berlin in the 1990-2000s were a continuation of that same spirit that was born in America, in the 1960s hippie movement and also the 1970s gay rights movement.

Today's Historic Inauguration of Obama

Illinois gave us Abraham Lincoln and Chicago has tried to live up to his image. It has had the first woman Mayer, a black Mayer but I'm not sure if he was the first in the country, and now the first black President. The black Mayer of Chicago was considered to have been one of the worst the city has had. Illinois is also probably the first State to have a large scale corruption scandal in it's Capital, Springfield, Illinois over the vacant Senatorial seat that was left vacant by Obama. It seems that the Governor tried to 'auction' off Obama's seat to Jesse Jackson Jr. But one advantage that I think Obama has over other black leaders is that he has traveled a lot more outside of the country. And that has probably given him the broader view of the world and it's complexities. So, what can we expect from his term in the President's office? I think we should prepare ourselves for almost anything, because anything's possible. And I hope that it will turn out to be anything that's 'good'. But one thing is clear to me. I live abroad. And looking from the outside in, the country's image has already improved by 100%. The election of Obama, who is from a minority religion, which has gotten lots of negative press in the world today and from a black race was such a shock to the rest of the world that many still can't get over it. It was a shock because it turned out that America is capable of dealing with ill leaders and evil man that took control of the country. Yes, it was a good shock that has already done a lot of good to our image. It has also made me proud again of being an American. Let's hope Obama doesn't do anything very wrong, that the press and the republicans don't start their conniving again and that nothing wrong at all happens to him. The country is walking on a very thin line and anything that would happen to him will be happening to us all in the world's eyes. He is our bright light in the darkness, that torch of freedom that we should try to help carry through without stumbling. It is extremely difficult to repair a broken image just as it is difficult to repair a broken mirror. And this is an exceptional chance that has been given to us to do just that. So I hope we won't spoil it.

And they'll do anything it takes to sell their product. That's the power of the press.

The Battle Between Backwardness and Progress

Freedom and Progress are what make up the American image. Both of those always seem to go hand in hand. There can be little progress without freedom and the will to make a change. I believe that the reign of the Bush regime was a contradiction of that. We have some new examples of progress in America today such as the election of Obama or the introduction of No Pants Days in New York - a freedom oriented and liberating custom that won't cost the taxpayers a lot of money. I believe it will spread across the globe to other metropolitan areas of the world just as many others have in the past. There will always be those that will see something wrong in such new things because not everyone in the world is the same.

Not everyone likes progress or wants to be liberated from old traditions and worldviews. And those that don't are often the same people that would like to limit freedom. Thus the battle between backwardness (ignorance) and progress (wisdom) goes on since unrecorded times, and it will probably continue until the dawn of time. So, lets take the chance we have been given to open up more. And at the same time, lets keep an eye on those that would like to take away or limit our God-given freedoms.

Ashamed Of Being Dutch

There is one thing I don't understand about the Dutch young people. I met a Dutch guy recently. He had tattoos on his arms, at least six earrings on his ears, studs in the eyebrows and probably on other body parts (we didn't get that far to view all of them). He was definitely the counter-culture type that someone from my generation would imagine to be. But to my surprise he was apologizing to me for the bad opinion Dutch people have concerning drugs, prostitution and dishonesty. So, I just can't figure out those Dutch people. I've come across this type of view earlier among other young Dutch people. Perhaps they just take what they have for granted and can't appreciate what they have. They have no idea what it's like to be deprived of the freedoms they could enjoy everyday. But most often the Dutch don't reach for drugs as often as those that have been deprived of them in other parts of the world.

Second Thoughts

Gee, I'm not complaining but wondering if I did the right thing posting my last blog post about Greater Decentralization of Power at Barak Obama's site (Change.gov). I mean, I forgot that they will be the centralized power now. It's like as if I was sticking my head inside a lion's mouth. If one's lucky and the lion is well trained nothing should happen. But only a fool like I would put that to the test. In any case, I'm glad I got that off my chest and sent the message to Obama's mailbox, bulk, Spam or trash folder. But who cares. I've already got some Mr. Smiths from Langley, Virginia watching my site and doing some eavesdropping. Its nice to be notices but I feel a need for more privacy, if you know what I mean. There must be a whole lot of hippies there. Now I'll probably have them coming around (lol) from their local subsidiaries. There were long lines of former communist intelligence people lining up to apply for work when the CIA opened their offices in Warsaw, PL and it was publicly announced that they were hiring agents. I'm sure all of my neighbors rushed to apply. One of them even admitted that he can hear everything that goes on in my apartment. It's probably through the fine new equipment he got from them for monitoring American foreigners in Poland such as I. So really, who am I to talk about freedom. I live in a country that probably has one of the finest civilian monitoring networks left over after the KGB in the world and now at the fingertips of Mr. Smith. And many of those hired hands need to get assignments so they could earn their paychecks. So they get assigned to watch nerds like me and the pigeons that hang around my windowsills and balcony. Freedom for me was always freedom from those people on all sides of the world. And believe it or not, I also came across a few Amsterdam too. But I wasn't sure which side they were on, probably the one that hired them.

I never got anything from any government like some other folks; especially those that served in the forces. I attended mostly private schools except for two years in a public school, and never even applied for any kind of grant or help, except unemployment compensation in the late 1970s. It was like that in all countries I ever was in. So they shouldn't expact much in return. And that in itself must be reason to be suspected of something or other. But if one looks hard enough and deep enough one will always find something or other on anyone. So, it is not pleasant when those people take one under the loop, but I've gotten used to that by now. But if I were doing anything wrong I would have been in trouble already by now. I wonder if any of those folks could admit to such a record. I think it's the election time excitement that drives my/our creativity to its limits. Otherwise I have little interest in getting involved in politics and really hope nothing bad comes out of all of this.

Greater Decentralization

Why do so many members of none violent and freedom loving subculture groups understand ideas expressed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights a lot better then many of our leaders and the majority of Americans that elected ones like G.W. Bush, for example? And have we become free just because we have cast our votes in the elections for G.W. Bush or Obama? And did our votes actually elect them? And are we free because we can flip channels on the TVs in our living rooms, surf the Web, choose the products we buy at the supermarket or speak our minds on in the media? The founding Fathers of our nation didn't enjoy such freedoms as we do today. They just wanted to free themselves from the greedy and oppressive British. And when they did, they took the opportunity to create a better world order that would be for the people and by the people without a class system, where everyone would have an equal opportunity and no reason to complain about failure due to birth in a deprived or discriminated social group or environment. They were actually creating a democratic system of federalism and respect, in which all things are equal.

Today, we could say that many of those founding Fathers led laid back bohemian style bourgeoisie lifestyles, in which they incorporated the three European classes in their everyday lives. The three classes were the peasants, the clerics and the aristocrats. The peasants lived freely and were self-sufficient. They did mostly the farming, crafts, raising cattle and other manual jobs; the clerics did mostly the mentoring, writing, thinking, advising and looking after the community; the aristocrats were the warriors and rulers and often the degenerated drunks that lounged around the most and spent much of their resources on building splendid architectural sites, in which they could show off their opulence. But in spite of what many may believe, it was not a rigid system like the one in India. In such a class system everyone knew their place and things were clear-cut and everybody had lots more free time to spend with the family or to go fishing, for example. We have a three class system today that is even less rigid then in those days. So, we should have even more time and be freer but that in not so. The working class is deep in dept; the middle class is even more in dept, and the upper class is spending way too much and will be getting into problems when taxes are raised. So, why would the latter want a Democrat such as Obama in Office? And what in the world do they have in common with bohemians and the country's founding Fathers? I think Not much. And it seems to me that they are disconnected from the ideas that our country was founded on. So I ask you, who really is the anti-American group of people that has done the most harm to the country's system, economy, reputation and prestige? Give that some thought before pointing at those who have been protesting and asking our leaders to stop the madness.

The real task is to find the enemy within, not without. And there are lots of reasons to believe that much of what has transpired in connection to 9/11 was from within and not from without - see "Fahrenheit 9.11" or "Zeitgeist" (both titles have German words, by coincidence) for more on that, for example. All hippies and anarchists well know that we should attack the enemy within (also, inside ourselves - in our hearts and souls) and not elsewhere because when we attack others or go to war, we actually make the others a lot stronger. And hasn't time shown that? When I talk about hippies or anarchy I do not mean the destruction of order. I have in mind the decentralization of power. I have in mind power to the people. And isn't that what America is all about? Too much power degenerates and corrupts. Americans need more breathing space. Greater decentralization of government would give the people more breathing space and the power to deal with leaders that may try taking the country down another dark alley.

America Has Chosen Change

America, Chicago and Illinois I love you! Today, Senator Barak Obama from Abraham Lincoln's State of Illinois was elected 44th President of the United States of America. Although I don't tend to get too emotional over things, sometimes I cannot help breaking out into tears. And I haven't experienced such euphoria and joy as I am experiencing today since Pope John Paul II was elected and the subsequent fall of Communism in Poland. I also see many similarities between President Barak Obama and the Pope from Poland, and the great challenges that stood before both of them. I also see similar evil powers standing in their way. Today is truly a historic day not only in the history of the US. It's a historic day the world has been waiting for and one that many Americans have been working for since the 1960s Human Rights Movement and the Peace Movement. God bless America, the land of the free! Oh, and who said Obama had little experience in international affairs? He has already done more to repair the America image then any international diplomatic strategies could have done in decades.

Unemployment

The problem with unemployment is that some folks like the free time that it gives them to do other things. It also teaches some folks that one doesn't really need much to get by. And the problems really begins when one begins to like this new form of understanding/wisdom and lifestyle. And really serious problems begin for those who realize that it is more natural for them to be free rather then to be bound by duties and time schedules. More fortunate are those who have a family to support or don't know what to do with themselves when they have free time as well as those that are psyched out on making money. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't like to have lots of money. In fact, I am good at spending money (I should mention that in my Resume/CV). Aside from the jobs I've had, money has never been my main objective in life. But getting by has. So, I tried everything to change. I've read books by Napoleon Hill and been through courses aimed at getting people psyched out on getting rich but they didn't work for me. I guess those are just not in harmony with my nature. And that is also probably one other reasons why I left for Europe because people there tend to be less money minded and more in tune with their soul.

Hippies & Greasers

There were long haired hippies, bikers and greasers in the sixties. Hippies were a minority. Only about 2% of American youth participated in the hippie movement. Long hair became an expression of rejecting the establishment, which was on the side of the greasers. The greasers and the establishment disliked hippies because we were entirely different from them in many ways and because we rejected their ways and did not share the same goals. Long hair, psychedelic drugs, porn and other things like that are not a big deal for kids from many different groups today as they were for my generation. The hippie movement was/is an attempt to return to our inner nature/ soul. And psychedelic substances such as pot or LSD(which can be a dangerous drug if used without care) were helpful in loosening our inhibitions and hang-ups, and in opening doors to the soul.

Hippies From Monte Carlo in Monaco

Not all hippies were or are poor. Most 1960s American* hippies came from upper class and middle class homes. And because many came from homes where everything was taken care of for them, hippies did have many problems taking care of themselves when they hit the road or the streets of San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Amsterdam and other hippie Meccas of those times. But there are/were also those more fortunate ones who didn't have to worry about getting by. So, I've been wondering if I could call the (Andrea and Pierre) Casiraghi brothers from Monaco hippies? They are the unofficial Princes of Monaco, and they certainly look, party and live like neo-hippies. Caroline, The Princess of Hanover, Hereditary Princess of Monaco was called a hippie Princess in the 1970s, and was on the cover of Rolling Stone in 1977. It looks to me like the hippie tradition of wearing beads, sandals, (roomers of) smoking pot, riding bicycles, not caring for appearances etc. has caught on with that part of the family. * I make the distinction between American hippies and hippies from Europe, Australia or any other place because the movement was different in America where it was born in the mid 1960s. The hippie movement caught on in other places around the late 60s and early 70s. But it focused on different issues and problems in different places. So, there are differences between hippies from different parts of the globe. Also, don't let my nickname get you confused... I am an American hippie from a Polish American ethnic group. I also visited Europe in 1969. So, I have some idea of how different hippies were on the two Continents.

Hemp For Victory

With the skyrocketing prices of oil, a rise in prices of not only gasoline and oil will follow. Don't forget all the other products made from oil such as synthetic fibers, plastics and many others like that, which will also cost us a lot more. Bob Dylan Came & Went

Bob Dylan's 2008 Tour came to a club near my home in Warsaw, Poland on Saturday, June 7, 2008. He and his crew came in three large black buses packed with the latest electronic gadgets and equipment anyone could imagine, and the block around the club was sealed off by the Police. Dylan did not meet with reporters or give any interviews. And fans had cameras and recording devices taken from them on entrance so there would be no documentation made for YouTube, for example.

I did not attend the concert because I couldn't afford the tickets. But even if I could I wouldn't have been able to get them because they were snapped up in an instant. Probably the only way to get them would had been if one knew Dylan, had friends in the ticket offices where they were sold or among the concert's organizers. A friend of my who personally knew Allen Ginsburg and is a friend of Dalai Lama wanted to get tickets for the concert but couldn't do that either. So honestly folks, even if I had the dough I wouldn't have been able to get in without help from someone above.

English As The Universal Language

The world is uniting and the official language of the United Europe (EU) and NAFTA is English. Therefore, the problem is not with those who don't speak Dutch, French, German, Polish, Italian, Spanish etc. etc... but with the inadequate knowledge of the English language amongst the none English speaking nations, and the inadequate implementation of the English language in their states. The unification processes will be slow and difficult if people fail to use one universal language. And, it so happens that English is that language that people from many different countries of will be communicating through in the coming future just as Latin was in the Middle Ages. Therefore, the problem is also in the egocentric efforts of nations to force others to learn their local languages. Thus hindering the realization of a world where everyone will be able to move around freely and to communicate through a universal tongue. They cannot expect people to learn the many local languages. And there will always be those who simply find it very difficult to learn other tongues. EU citizens would be spending too much time on learning different languages as they move around the EU or the North American Union. So, I think it's time to look at the problem from a broader plan, and to start thinking more globally.

Anyone who would like to learn any language has the right to do so. But EU countries should concentrate more on making English their primary language because it is the language everyone in the EU will have to use rather then on expecting others to learn their own national languages. Expacting others from other states to learn a national language is an old way of thinking from times when there were boarders and divides between the European nations. I do realize that Germans and especially the French may feel disappointed because their languages were not chosen for the official EU language, and perhaps for that reason there are a less English speaking folks in those countries esp. France compared to the Netherlands, which have probably done most in making English a popular language in their country esp. in Amsterdam. The widespread use of English in Amsterdam could serve as an example for other cities and nations.

It is a real ego-booster for small countries with rare languages to see others attempting to learn them. But I think that we will never be fully united because of the many differences that make countries unique. And I wouldn't want them to be all the same. That is what makes us so unique and interesting. But the key element in the process of unification is communication i.e. the language. We had a similar problem in the early days of the US. There were four primary languages in North America (English, Spanish, German and French). For example, German was so widely spoken in the State of Wisconsin that the State held a vote on which language would be the official language in that state - German or English. And guess what? English won by only one vote! It's hard to believe that now, isn't it? The adoption of English as the primary language made all the difference in the development of the country. Sooner or later, a similar process will have to take place in Europe if it is to survive and function properly. And the proper foundations for that are already set in place. Every partnership and union is a give and take situation. Just as watercolors mix on paper so will people and their cultures overflow their boarders in the coming world. As much as some would like, this process cannot be stopped. So, better accept it now. That new world which we are entering now has been my dream since the 1960s. Though I have not physically participated in making it happen, I would like to enjoy it as soon as possible because I am growing old. However, a change of thinking will be required to make the changes. And that is another thing, which is more difficult then tearing down the Berlin Wall, if you know what I mean.

The nineties were a time when everything was happening at the same time. I guess this decade is a time when new things are sprouting that will be developing through the next few decades.

Pope in the USA and sex in Catholic schools I tell you, I get no respect. The Pope just got off the plane and started his first and last visit to the US where he will take on the issue of pedophile sex abuse among his subjects. In light of that I feel somewhat left out and discriminated. I've spent over 10 years in Catholic schools in America and Europe, and I have never been sexually assaulted in any of those schools I've attended. In fact, it was the most asexual environment I've ever been in, and one that has left irreversible scars on my psyche that are at the core of the many problems I am still trying to face. I feel that many of my adolescent problems involving sexual initiation were not adequately handled by those who should have helped me at such an important time in life. But instead, all I heard was that sex is evil and homosexuality is the worst evil of them all. They left me alone with my problems, uneducated and having to learn about life on the streets. I really do envy those boys that were noticed in the schools and who received the private lessons about the birds and the bees. I guess all of that was going on among the jocks and other more athletic boys. Had I been initiated into sex and homosexuality by some Priest so early in life as some of them were I probably would be a lot wiser a lot sooner, and have had come out of the closet a lot earlier and found a better place for myself in the society. I guess, a long haired and a bit over intellectualized and a bit too introverted hippie types did not interest those clerics and Teachers. So, if you think sex in Catholic schools was bad, look at the other side of the coin. The lack of sex in Catholic schools was even worse.

I hope you haven't got the wrong impression. If I had kids, if I was still a Catholic (I still am Catholic in the Church records, I never formally resigned from that institution) and if I could afford it I would send my kids to Catholic schools, which would provide a safe environment for them and a good level of education. What I am complaining about is the fanatic anti-sexual stand American Catholics and other Christians have taken. It's some kind of socially accepted phobia. Sex was on top of the evils that we were taught to look out for. But I cannot say the same about the European Catholics who took a more lenient view of that part of the Church doctrine, which most people in Europe know is not to be taken too seriously. And it was especially ugly to experience such brainwashing at a developing stage of life when one was an adolescent - a time when young people need to get some experiences and initiation. People at that age need to experience love without feelings of ridicule or contempt for what comes naturally to them. What they experience and the environment in which they experience it in will have an important influence on the rest of their lives. The sexual restraints put on the society by those religious institutions have made even masturbation in a dark room a sick experience for many because all knowing and all seeing God would be watching them committing such an awful sin. Yes, anyone who had any natural sexual desires and interests would fall prey to Satan. Now that I look back on those frustrating and unfulfilled years that the society shoved up our brains I feel that many Catholics and other Christians are long overdue for some kind of mass therapy.

A Must To See

A film is out that I think is a must to see by everyone. It's available on the Web at http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com and its title is "Zeitgeist" (2007). Parts of the film are also available on YouTube and Google. It discusses many things I have known about or questioned in the Hippy Y! group before the film was made. And I am glad many of us were on the same wavelength as the film's director. But the film shows a lot of interesting footage, evidence we didn't think of and explained how things came about in a satisfactory way for me, personally. I believe that this film together with 9/11 Farenheight give us a full picture of what is going on, who we're dealing with and how we are being manipulated like cattle by those we have given out trust to. However, I still believe in a united world. As we've seen in the film, perhaps it may come about out of greed of some bankers. But sooner or later they too will fall and give people their rights and freedom back just as the Kings had to do in Europe. A united world is coming about and I am thrilled. In a united world there will be a lesser Russian threat and a lesser potential for war. Asia is also uniting and there will remain also the problem of China. However, economic ties and cooperation between the Unions should in theory keep things in peace. As with any new concept or entity, it will pose many new problems and require new solutions. One of them will be keeping track of citizens; especially because of crime. All the more reason why we should know where things are going so we could watch our leader's hands. Human rights organizations and demonstrators should also unite and become more globalized. We can't stay behind that which is inevitable. The world is evolving and we should evolve with it and protest against steps that would take our individual rights away. If those Unions would be like it is in the EU then I would be happy. The EU is working fine and spreading a lot of freedom to places in Europe where people knew little about freedom. In spite of all the fears that were expressed earlier and opposition from Great Britain, the EU is truly a fantastic step forward for Europe and I am confident that any unification process is a good step forward for humanity.

How To Be Free?

We value freedom and we all would like to be more free. But how can we be free? The hippies were all about freedom but by the time the Vietnam War ended many of us forgot about that. The anxieties brought about by the War and the fear of a nuclear attack during that Cold War era were so great that we forgot to continue the fight after winning a part of it that seemed to us almost impossible to win. The abolishment of the draft and the pull out of US forces from Vietnam were such a fantastic success that many of us have been put in an almost permanent state of shock. Yes, soda water got into many of our heads. But have we achieved freedom? I don't think so. Since then, many of us have become tied up by social trappings, bills and the corporate consumer world Maya that is fed to our brains everyday on the TV. May of us may still remember the old slogans but not what it was exectly that we were rebelling against. But don't despair. I believe that where we left off in the 60-70s the neo-hippies and Anarchists took over and are doing a fine job at spreading ideas of freedom. However, I do reject some of the methods used when it comes to violence and riots as a means of getting attention. In fact, those are the types of things the media and corporations need to feed the public with more fears and anxiety. And the more fears and anxiety there are the greater power the public is ready to give to the people in power. So in consequence, we are not becoming freer but we are giving our freedom away in sacrifice for a better tomorrow. So the question remains, How to be free? How to free ourselves from the bonds of the world that we have created for ourselves? What is the magic formula for freedom?

Bush: US Should Have Bombed Auschwitz

My Uncle "Josef" was killed in Auschwitz. His name is inscribed on the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem. My Polish Cousin and his Hungarian Wife that were a famous European Tenor and Soprano and Stars of screen (they played at Operas across the world and main roles in the Merry Widow on Broadway over 100 times, and over 2000 times around the world in 4 different languages - that must be some kind of record) held rallies, gatherings and dedicated their income to draw attention to the genocides by the Nazis in Auschwitz and other concentration camps across Europe. Unfortunately, no action was taken by the Allies.

If I were to mention other monstrosities the Nazis used to do of for amusement in killing people you would not be able to fall asleep thinking of what those people were capable of. For example, in the way they killed pregnant women or babies in Poland. I happen to live across the street from where the Warsaw Ghetto wall was and that is one of the reasons why I tend to be so serious and depressed at times. The spirits of those people and their times are still in the air around here, not to mention all the monuments that have been put up in their honor. It is even difficult to laugh when one is so close to the place of so much suffering and death. That is one other reason why I am so edgy and need a change of climate.
We know who won the war but very few know who actually lost it. The real losers were the Poles, Jews and Czechs, Hungarians, Germans, Dutch, Gypsies, gays and others that were tortured and killed in the most indescribable ways by their neighbors from a neighboring country. They were forgotten about almost everywhere outside of Poland and Jerusalem because people want to erase bad memories and events from their minds. And hardly ever anyone makes documentary films about the fate that met them. God did not answer their cries for mercy and their prayers. Instead, God seemed to protect Hitler from assassins, and then allowed them to become such dominant historical figures. You can find lots of books and documentary films about Hitler, his generals, underground factories, bunkers, his diet, his strategies, his life, his friends, his love for children, flowers, coffee and pastries, and even about his dog... Not even the Romanian Count Dracula or Joseph Stalin got that much attention. That's probably because history remembers only the cruelest rulers and numbers count (of humans killed).

Too bad G. W. Bush forgot to apologize for his Grandfather who used to be a banker that got convicted for laundering money for the Nazis in America. I'm sure that without the support of such people Hitler may have had to keep his ambitions down.

It's hard to believe that people can deny such historical facts as the existence of the Auschwitz concentration camps that are so well documented still today. And it's even harder to believe they could find so many believers to follow them.

The reason why the Nazis were so extremely cruel in Poland was because the Poles did not passively accept the invasion of their country the way other countries did. The Poles fought the Nazis from the very moment they passed their border and all through the many years of the Nazi occupation of Poland. And what did the Poles get in exchange? They were given away by the allies to Soviet Russia, that the Poles fought against in the years proceeding WW2. The Poles even occupied Moscow for a while then. No surprise the Russians were getting back at the Poles thanks to the agreement on division of Europe between US, England and Russia.

I am all for Peace and a united world because I've seen what wars lead to and that there really are no winners in a war, accept for the bankers and industries. Though that could be questioned when one looks at how much more Japan and Germany has gained after loosing the war. They've became the world's leading economies with the highest standards of living. Too bad for the us that there is only one country like the US. If there was another one like it then the we could go into war with it, loose the war and then get aid from it, make money by trading with it and then slowly destroy it economically like a vamp (lol). Too bad the Poles weren't cleaver enough to tap into any of that aid. Instead, they were tagged with a lot of bad names like Polaks or collaborates. All of that is nonsense.

The story of Anne Frank is an example of two different stands Europeans took during WW2. There were those who collaborated with the occupying forces and those that did not. Anna Frank's family was given shelter in a safe place by a Dutch man, who paid the highest price for that act. On the other hand the Dutch man who gave them away to the Nazis lived a good and full life until he died just recently in Amsterdam. My parents risked all of our family's lives doing the same and yet we were met with name throwing in the States by People who were brainwashed to believe that Poles collaborated with the Nazis. However, nobody says that about the Czechs, Hungarians, Austrians and others that actually opened their borders and greeted the occupying Nazi forces with flowers and who's cities were not leveled to the ground. Unfortunately, history is cruel and forgets those who actually did most of the work. Even today, I am observing people giving credit to the Germans for tearing the Berlin wall, like as if it were them who did away with Communism. Less and less remember that it was possible to tear down that wall because of the Solidarity movement in Poland that first brought about the fall of Communist rule in Russia making it possible for Germans to tear down the Berlin wall.

In my opinion, there are three nations that did not received their right share in our world history. Those three are India, China and Poland. For obvious reasons we are discussing the latter at this moment. But India is another one of those countries that I like to talk about. The influence India has had on our world has been greatly minimized and the genius of the Hindus has been almost noticed.

Anne Frank and her family were taken from Amsterdam to Auschwitz in Poland where they were killed not long before the end of the war. Auschwitz is the German name for a small town in Southern, Poland called "Oswiecim". There is also a lot of misleading information around especially in the States telling people that it was a Polish concentration camp, for example misleading articles in the New York Times! That couldn't be further from the truth. It was built by the Nazis in occupied by the Nazis Poland and was entirely operated by the Nazis until the end of the war. The Nazis built many other such camps in Poland because Poland had the largest Jewish population in Europe, Poland was the earlier land of the free since the middle ages (way before America was discovered by Columbus) until the 19th Century when it was taken over and divided between the French, Russians and Austrians. Anti-Semitism and homophobia are a product of the Soviet occupation of Poland and their propaganda machine. Currently, they are a social problem the Poles have to deal with and also give me a personal sense of purpose here to help them make the change of mind. But most Poles were not like that until Communist rule, and the later brainwashing done by Catholic fanatics that recently came into power after the abolishment of Communism and kicking the Soviets out of the country, which took a lot of courage. At that time, faith served that vital purpose which united people and gave them the courage to overcome such a great and brutal world power, which in effect shortly after that crumbled and was destroyed in its own homeland - Russia. So, I am proud to have been a participant of the Peace movement and hippie movement that did away with the Vietnam war and the draft in the States, and later to have been there where Communism was done away with and where a new United Europe has risen. And I have a positive outlook on the future, providing we deal in time with the ecological hazards that are destroying the environment on our beautiful blue planet.

Poland did away with the Crusaders, Nazis and Soviet Communism. The bad guys have often been winning because they use brutal force. That's why I am all for pacifism but not in the absolute sense of the word because there may be some life threatening situations where we may have to put ideology aside and protect ourselves. But none aggression, diplomacy and prevention are always the best policy to follow because aggression will always generate more aggression, hatred and resent. The Poles have always fought for freedom in other countries, on their own Continent and other Continents such as America, where they actively participated in the American Revolution or the Civil War.

Officially, the Poles opened their doors to Jews in the 12th Century and gave them exceptional rights but that didn't mean that many were not already living there before that. They did that not only because of economic reasons as some may suggest. Also, in spite of the fact that the Crusaders had their stronghold in Malbork, Poland where was the seat of the Teutonic Order the Poles did not conduct witch hunts like everyone else in Europe did. And in spite of that, Copernicus - a Polish monk dared to declare that the Earth spins around the Sun, and had the work published in Amsterdam, Holland at a time when others with similar opinions were burned at the stake. The Poles also did away with the Crusaders when they had a chance causing their final downfall. Later, Royal Prussian territory (1466 – 1772) was awarded to Poland after its victory over the Teutonic Order in the Thirteen Years' War.

I hope the Poles will return to their old freedom loving and Democratic traditions that they held so dear in the past and promoted around the world. But it will take time for their old wounds to heal, and a lot of understanding from others after the many years of genocide on their territory and a half Century of Communist brainwashing from 1945 to 1989.

Gloomy Holiday Season

This was probably one of the gloomiest Holidays in years. What makes those Holidays so gloomy are the social pressures and expectations one is expected to meet, which for some are very difficult to do: we're supposed to spend lots of money, exchange greetings and presents, spend the Holidays with family, have a sumptuous Christmas dinner with the family, go to Church, sing Christmas Carols, decorate the house, dance around the Christmas tree, etc. Okay, that's fine when you're a kid and your Parents are doing all the work but for older folks whose situations may be different it can turn out to be a real bummer. And what about all of those who are not Christian, who don't have families, who don't have money, a home etc. The social pressures are great during these days of the year to meet the form that has been set for us by our ancestors back in those days when our world was being built on slavery, genocide and injustice. And I guess I was not the only one that got gloomy this Season. I got this shocking Web news story from Mike - a friend at the Hippy Y! group that says a lot about the condition of the condition we're in. Also, as far as I know this story from 21 December got no other media coverage so far; perhaps also because of the Holiday Season.

The Buck Rules

It took me many years to realize that the "buck" i.e. money rules and that it costs to stay alive, and I still have problems accepting that kind of reality as the main goal through life. Marx offered a new system where there would be only the working class and everybody would have the time and financial support of the government to enjoy life, art, music and culture. However, that was a total utopia and the system became one of the most cruel, corrupt and repressive ones the world has known. Many EU countries have gone socialist and provide their citizens with many benefits but they have high taxes. There seems to be no way to live without money; especially when one is old and hasn't got anyone to lean on. It's the survival of the fittest...

The Soviets & Hippies

Russian culture is different from our culture. That's probably why it is difficult to foresee their next move. Through the sixties and perhaps the eighties too, Russians financed some socialist candidates in US elections but as far as I know none of them won. Also as far as I know, the Soviets wanted to get into the peace movement but failed in the States. Perhaps they had more luck on other continents but I don't know. I suspect that groups such as the followers of Leon Trotsky were too obvious to serve as cover for such an operation, and besides that they hated the Soviets for assassinating him in Mexico. Some of the reasons may be due to slow and wrong analysis of intelligence they got. Hippies didn't wear suits and didn't like Ballet or classical music, nor were they from working class homes but mostly from middle class ones. Besides that they wouldn't go after drug users or gays. The only use they could have for those would be by getting them addicted to hard drugs and to force them to serve them, or by blackmailing gays into collaboration. So, their strategy was aimed more at the human rights movement and black minority (slaves and working class was their terrain). Other reasons may have been failure to understand that such a small group of "degenerated youths" as the hippies could have so much to say in our country. Also it may have been that by the time they realized the potential the movement had in destroying the States, the Vietnam War ended and the movement was over. I think that not until about the early seventies did they start making some serious preparations to inject into the movement an agent or more. I am certain one of them was to be a Hindu style Guru. They were unable to convince any Gurus from India to cooperation; though Communists are still a very strong political group in and around Calcutta even today. So, they were preparing their own Guru(s) in the Soviet block for such a mission in the West. I learned about that just a few years ago, very few people know anything about that. Such an operation(s) required time and fortunately for us they just didn't have enough of it to implement their plans. On top of that, we were already labeled to be "communists" so that made it even more difficult for them to do that inconspicuously.

Allen Ginsberg was liked a lot in Russia during the communist era. He visited it many times and got the top VIP treatment there. Perhaps they had hopes of getting some control over him by exposing his gay relationship with a minor. But he was probably too smart for that. So, probably when they realized that they're not getting anywhere with him, they uncovered his affair with a Russian boy and then only kicked him out of the country. Putting him on trial there would probably not serve their purpose because it would have only caused some of his leftist followers to totally turn away from them. I don't know what they did to the boy. Perhaps he got a slap on the hand and later became a KGB agent in some Soviet province. But I was told that many of their agents even today are very attractive women. So guys, beware ;)

Generation X

Generation X is different from our generation. They are more into anarchy, self-survival and into moving on. In that way, they are a bit like European, Australian and NZ hippies. That's probably because they were faced with different problems and were not facing the draft or being sent to Vietnam. American hippies were more into love of the self, pacifism, politics, human rights, causes and ideologies as opposed to hippies on other continents.

National Arrogance

Why is the US so arrogant and exalting itself over others in the world? The main reason is probably the world super power role it has played in the past. In many ways US behavior is very similar to Polish leader's behavior, who came out of the Solidarity union. And both of their causes are similar too. Perhaps it would be easier to understand our own problems if we look at an example that is more disconnected from ourselves. Poland is such an example, though it is far from being a super power. What the Polish and Americans have in common is mental programming aimed at fighting for some worthy cause. Now that the Poles have abolished communism in their own country and initiating the fall of communism in Russia and in Europe they feel like as if they were on top of the world. So, they have been behaving extremely arrogantly in various EU institutions. Their leaders have also been provoking their neighboring countries in various ways, hence the poor trade and other types of relations with them. This form of mental attitude stems from being programmed to seek out an enemy, to fight the enemy and to abolish that which is believed to be wrong. Americans have been programmed in a similar way due to past historical circumstances. Now that the US has become the only remaining super power Americans are still behaving according to the programming they've been raised on just like the Poles. Most of the Polish leaders are simple people who were successful in the opposition to a totalitarian state and have risked their lives in the fight with communism. They lived in a country which was isolated from the rest of the world for about half a Century. Today, at a time when constructive decision making is necessary they behave destructively because they're still psyched out and that has worked for them in the past. The same is true with American leaders. But, there were also those so called American friends from abroad who seized at the opportunity to make a lot of money on this American quality. Because in a way we are like robot boxer toys wound up to fight. And we as a nation are moving ahead looking for an object to fight with. So, it's time to stop that madness because in reality it is self destructive and will bring our own downfall. I do believe we desperately need newer and wiser leaders that will not go around instigating conflicts in the world or work for the benefit of any corporate business interests, no matter how hard we may be provoked. Many of those provocations may be based on bluffs. And it's also well worth remembering that nothing sells as well as oil does in a time of war. And that's what the latest problems are about.

Animal Sacrifice For Thanksgiving Day Offering

Thanksgiving is an example of how things are changing for the better in some areas of the world. The butchering of millions of turkeys for a pagan style ritual feast in gratitude to the glory of the god(s) is a last remnant of ancient rituals of that type, on which animals were killed for tribal ritual offerings at pagan feasts that followed. In the case of Thanksgiving the bloody ritual was continued mostly by Christians in USA, who on the one hand rejected those types of practices among pagans, but on the other hand followed them themselves at Thanksgiving. Not until just recent times has consciousness of those Americans risen above that. Now, that senseless slaying of turkeys for the Thanksgiving Day ritual feast is being done away with. Hence a big step forward for mankind and the environment has been taken in the States.

Saved By Europe In 1969

I guess the greatest mistake I made when I was a kid in 1968 was not to run away from home and hitch-hike down Rout 66 to California as some of my friends did. I'll always regret that. But who knows how things would have turned out then? One thing I know for sure, if I hadn't gone through medical tests when I went to Europe to avoid the draft in 1969 I probably wouldn't have made it to the 1970s. That's because by the time I was so seriously dehydrated and anemic due to a lot of drugs and alcohol I was doing in America. Also many sleepless nights at parties and too much good times probably didn't help either. I was so busy with school and social life that I forgot all about myself. And that trip to Europe really did saved me. Nobody in the States noticed how I was tumbling down hill; especially after the Democratic Convention until I arrived in Europe.

In Europe I learned moderation. And believe it or not, my European doctor prescribed drinking a glass or two of dry red wine everyday and some herbal medicine, which would be unthinkable in the States in those days. Man, was I shocked to hear all of that. I drank because it was illegal in my State of Illinois for anyone under 21 to drink alcohol. And now I found that on the other side of the globe it was normal even for kids to drink alcohol. So you see, what we call reality does not have to be the same everywhere in the world. And life could be much better if people were given freedom of choice. So the morale of this story is that bans create pathologies, crime and criminals. And that forbidden fruit tastes a lot sweeter. Likewise for example, if sugar was banned because it is unhealthy then a mafia would be created. And illicit production and distribution of sugar would become a crime. That's how much sense some bans make.

Back From The Camp

I'm back from the mountain camping trip. It was okay on the first night but the next day it poured right into the next morning. What's with the weather, damn it? So we stayed in the tent, lit some incense, listened to the silence, looked up at the Full Moon, checked for leaks in the floor and hoped wolves or bears wouldn't come our way.

And then, right before dawn I saw the light. It hit me like a lightning flash. I understood exactly what Aerosmith was singing about in "Amazing". Yes, life is not the aim but the cherry. Yes, that is so simple and so deep, and from such an unlikely source. We also realized that we had enough of those cherries for a while on that mountain and that we couldn't wait to get back down to earth level before a lightning bolt would actually strike us. No, not because of any guilt feelings but because of a real threat of lightning striking trees and other objects on mountain tops. I also understood why they called a mountain Brakeback.

To sum it up, the trip was absolutely divine, although I almost broke my back going up there, putting up the tent and keeping up with that eighteen-year old. But now that we made it home safe I can honestly say we had fun. This past weekend will probably be remembered for a long time; especially by someone I made happy. Now, I think I need a bit of a vacation.

African American Culture

My family was Polish and we lived in one of those typical white neighborhoods throughout the 1960-80s where everyone was afraid of blacks moving in because that would caused a plunge in real estate prices and more crime. But unlike most Americans we liked blacks and had black friends, which was not very well seen in the 1960s. My Mother even went out of her way to have photos taken with blacks so she could show to her friends in Europe. As I mentioned earlier, that was met with a lot of criticism from many of our American friends, and probably rightly so. Most of their arguments were that we could have been robbed or even killed. But we were fresh off the boat (That is just a saying. We usually flew on SAS Airline's transcontinental jets) and fascinated with blacks just as much as The Beatles or The Rolling Stones were long before anyone even heard of them.

State of Illinois, in which I grew up was well known for it's tolerance and opposition to Slavery long before Abraham Lincoln's time. It was also the only State in which homosexuality was legal. Homosexuals in all other States faced long prison sentences of up to teens of years in jail for being themselves ie. homosexual. America - the land of the free. To be honest, we had some problems in understanding that. Back in Continental Europe we had no major problems with slavery or with accepting homosexuals. This was mostly an English and American problem. And in my opinion, they were the ones responsible for making those problems. So, I was really fortunate to have been brought up in Illionis where there was a much more tolerant environment by most American standards.

Blacks and their cultural heritage is what gives America that dynamic kick or "Soul" that other countries don't even come close to. White folks are more introverted and intellectual. On the other hand, black folks are more extraverted and expressive. The American culture gives us a refined mixture of both of these qualities. That's why American dance, music and musicals have become such well recognized trademarks of America. They are probably also the number one American export item. The British invasion that began with The Beatles was a further transformation of Afro American culture and music, plus well carried out British marketing. The only British things about it were the Mod fashions, the Musicians and their unique interpretations of black American music. That is why everywhere around the world America is strongly identified with African Americans. And, I think that is why it has always been a bit difficult for many folks from Continental Europe to understand racism or the struggle for Civil Rights in America so many Centuries after the American Constitution was signed.

Law, Justice, Order & Voting

I was an ordinary teenage participant of the hippy movement like 2% of other American kids. I did not have the understanding of that movement as I do today. But I strongly identified myself with it because it was so much like me in it's purest form, at least up to the end of the sixties. Though it's golden era has passed and at times I may look and sound a bit like those folks over 30 that I used to reject and criticize so much, I am still a hippy and proud of it.

The place on the Old Continent where I am now is a lot like America was before the civil Rights movement. Though it is more liberal, socialist conscious and also pressured by the EU to become more tolerant and liberal. Being there has helped me to better observe and understand the social-political mechanisms that were behind the birth of the civil rights and hippy movements in America. Besides that, in a telepathic way I also have an opportunity to help get rid of some evils that such a new Democracy has to face. Those evils usually claim to be on the side of Law, Justice, Order, Family Values and Nationalism, though they may at times try to deny that. Therefore, we should judge them not by what they say but by their actions or a lack of reaction in some cases. I also saw such Law, Justice and Order at work back in Chicago and other places in America and Europe in the 1960s. So, based on my past experiences and observations all I can say is save the world from those who make Law, Justice and Order their mission.

I am very happy that through the Internet we can be together again with many key personas that are still among us, and who have played key roles in making those changes in the '60s and later. Many of them have also not been adequately rewarded for the work and sacrifices they made for their country and the world. So, if the Reader ever take on the subject of that part of American history, please make a mention of those hippies so that they will be remembered. Let's hope the right (or actually the Liberal Left) candidate wins in coming elections. So please don't make the mistake many of us made in 1968 by not voting and letting Nixon win by a thin margin. YOU could make the change! All you have to do is to cast your vote on a major liberal candidate. And I hope some weaker liberal candidate won't kidnap the votes. Please remember that we can be strong in solidarity by voting on one candidate only.

Five 1960s Hippy Centers

There are five main 1960s hippy centers or Meccas in my philosophy. The first is Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco, the second is Greenwich Village in New York and the third is Chicago's Old Town. The fourth is Amsterdam and the fifth is Kathmandu in Nepal. But if one makes a pilgrimage to India; especially Kashmire then that could be a substitute for the Himalayas. There were many smaller hippie centers too. But the three mentioned here were the most sought after where tons of hippies crashed and gathered regularly, and which are still best remembered.

The changes the hippy movement brought about are not so obvious today and most of them are taken for granted. But it wasn't like that before the mid 1970s when the movement faded out in USA with the end of the Vietnam War.

Rainbow Flag

The rainbow flag is another thing that was almost made for me. It says what I want to say when I want to say it. I have just one large rainbow flag. One flag is enough for Rainbow Family meetings and other peace movement related uses. In such a case, I use it with the red side pointing down. The same flag could be used to express support for gay rights by turning the red side up. And the same could also be done with a seven-striped flag.

Since ancient times the color Red or ocher (red earth) has been the symbolic color of the Goddess, Shakti, energy, activity, life and love (Aphrodite) so it should be easy to remember. When the flag is turned up it symbolizes that we are talking about love, sensuality and activity, and when it is turned down then we are talking about pacifism, peace and ideas. That is easy to remember, and that is how I use the six-striped flag as a modern kind of spiritual tool. You see? "United in Diversity" is the philosophy behind the rainbow flag and it is also the moto of the European Union.

I assigned specific meaning to each of the colours, which are in agreement with those assigned by Baker to a 1978 eight-striped flag:

Violet - Virtues, Ideas, Spirit
Blue - Pacifism, Peace, Serenity
Green - Earth, Environment, Mother Nature/ Earth
Yellow - Success, Splendor, Happiness
Orange - Faith, Hope, Healing
Red - Energy, Life, Love

The first three colors in a six-striped flag would represent the Shiva Triangle (Linga) and the second group of three colors would represent the Shakti Triangle (Yoni).

Turquoise ( optional color) - Magic, Maya, Shakti.

Frustration

There are times when I get upset and frustrated with seeing all the wrong in the world. At times like that I often go around complaining and bitching at everything and everyone around me. So, I have been given some advice by some folks and have also come up with some of my own remedies. This is what it all sums up to in just a few simple points.

1. Stop watching the news or better yet, just stop watching TV.
2. Find a hobby that would take your mind away from what upsets you. Life is short and revolutions are for the young, who still have a lot of time before them and a lot less to lose.
3. If you can, help young people that want to change the world for the better in climbing up the social ladder.
4. Be honest and abide by the law whenever possible, so you could keep that bright, clean, groovy, peaceful and happy feeling inside.
5. Don't pay attention to what others think when you know deep inside that what you are doing is pure, right and honest.

Liberals

Narrow views, no matter how well labeled as liberal or "hippie" just won't pass. If I remember correctly, Castro and Chairman Mau were very ambitious and started by claiming to be liberals fighting for the benefit of the oppressed masses. And then, when they won they became the greatest oppressors the world has known. Anger and hate repels many intelligent people but it works well in taking over the angry masses. And that's why in such alternative structures intellectuals most often have to be suppressed. Successful classic liberals are most often characterized by less angry language, less hate, less narrow worldviews, less fundamentalism (there is also anarchist and hippie fundamentalism), by pragmatism and more compassion towards others.

An Example To Follow

Soon some of us old hippies will be rocking in our own psychedelic rocking chairs on front porches of our motor homes here and there. Others, more fortunate ones may end up in old hippie homes, if there will be any. And others in shelters for the homeless run by some fanatic religious freaks or social workers. Some better off hippies may even be rolling around in their own ecological veggie powered (if available) motorized wheal chairs to their recreational lots to pluck a few weeds. We will have so much to look forward to at old age. There may also be those who have not worked long enough to get a descent retirement pension. They may not even afford to live in a tent or to buy a rocking chair, not to mention a nickel or dime. It's sad to say that the past governments which made our lives very miserable, expected so much from us and filled many of our lives with fear have been willing to give so little to its peace-loving citizens that took American ideas seriously enough to stand up for them. That great self-proclaimed and most righteous country of the world, which always stood on guard of respect for freedom, democracy and human rights, which expected other countries to meet its high standards under threats of embargoes or even military invasions has turned out to be a bad example to follow for all at home and abroud.

Impeach And Excommunicate Now!

There were many anti-war marches held throughout the world last week and yesterday. Perhaps I'm not an expert on Australia, New Zealand or Fiji because I have never been there, but I do remember that the first in the world anti-Iraq-War demonstration was held in Hungry (yes, I've been to Hungry). Other demonstrations followed later in Europe and the USA. "Make Love Not War" and "Flower Power" are the old hippie slogans! That message most of all goes to the terrorists who started that entire mess. Pacifists are against the War because we are against violence. The War was foreseen by many pacifists and sensitive people throughout the world to lead up to more violence on our planet, and it has. As history has proven once again, we were right and the Leaders were wrong. And once again, we were the ones treated as enemies of State by the real enemies of State. Violence generates more violence. Had the US not reacted in such an aggressive and violent way to the 9/11 attacks it would have had much more sympathy in the world today and also among many more Arabs. For some the consequences were easy to foresee, but not to the decision makers we have entrusted our country's fate to. So, what now? They all should be impeached and should answer for the gigantic loses in lives, national prestige and the senselessly wasted taxpayers' national resources. As usual. big business was the only group to has profited from it all. But that's nothing new. They and the Banks are the ones that always have profited on wars. Thus, the world has not learned much from the past. It keeps on making the same mistakes over and over again. Hasn't a great Guru once taught his Apostles to always "Turn the other cheek"? And what did his Apostles in DC do instead? They all should also be excommunicated from the churches they belong to for that. It could also be said that God tested many Christianity on 9/11, and that many American Christians totally failed that acid test. But what is interesting is that Christians in other parts of our planet passed the test without too many problems. So, there is also a reason to rejoice because the same great Guru said that "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven". PEACE!

Home Is Where The Heart Is

The saying "Home is where the heart is" I understand as most people would. But I also find a deeper spiritual meaning in it. "Home" is where the heart is because Brahma-Atman (Spirit-Soul) are located in the Heart Chakra area, the central Chakra. It is also the location of the Solar Plexus, and a place where the physical and spiritual hearts meet. That is also where the brain feels/experiences the Self emanating from. It is also where we experience love, and where some look for inspiration, guidance, support and pray to the Supreme Entity in. The Heart is also lots more then that. It is also where we pamper the alter-Ego. The Mind and the heart are also like a garden where illusions, false beliefs, hatreds etc. could spread like wild weeds and destroy the flowers. That's why I believe we should strive to keep our innermost Homes clean and remove harmful weeds from the Gardens of our souls.

Dealing with the Winter

The weather has a great influence on how we feel. People in cold regions of the world such as those in Northern Europe, on the Baltic Sea, in Iceland or Canada tend to be more depressed. Suicide rates in those regions also tend to be some of the highest in the world even though the people there enjoy a higher standard of living as apposed to those that live in warmer regions of our planet.

This Winter in Central Europe was very mild and warm. Many sky resorts in Austria, Germany, Poland and the Alps stopped short of going bankrupt because guests called off their reservations and skiing trips due to the high temperatures and a lack of snow. So, Central Europe enjoyed almost a warm Winter this year. But last year's Winter was one of the coldest ones there. So the chairs switched this year and Americans experienced one of the worst Winters in a long time for a change. It's obvious that the climate is changing much faster and erratically then anyone could predict. Winters tend to put us into a kind of natural hibernation. This naturally happens to all living bodies and plant life at this time of the year. That's the way Mother Nature has made us. This is also one of the major reasons why many folks experience some prolonged depression at this time of the year.

It's wise to take some vitamin C in the Winter, drink orange juice and also to do some light therapy by substituting the Sun with a infrared lamp or a sun lamp. One can also do a lot of other things to reduce the negative effects of Winter on our body and mind. What some folks from cold regions of Europe have also been doing for thousands of years has been going to warmer parts of the Continent for the Winter and to the Riviera. The same is true in America. That's why some Midwest and Eastern North Americans also go to Florida and the Redneck Riviera for the Winter.

Modern Patriotism

I guess it's beginning to dawn on many peoples of the world that true patriotism is not standing behind any decision our leaders make, but in standing up for what is sensible and right for our country, our region, continent, our Planet and even our Solar System; especially with the increase of waste products left in Space from Earth's Space programs and the coming Space tourism industry recently headed by a 1960s British hippy, Richard Branson. That is what we have seen in America in the past and coming about in the world today. That is also what made America such a great symbol to the suppressed masses of the world. Millions of American patriots and intelligent people expressed disapproval for their current President's decisions and policies from the very beginning; especially after 9/11. Time has shown that they were right and that their leader was very wrong. The days when citizens were expected to follow the dictates of their leaders are becoming a thing of the past in modern democracies and in the globalization processes on our Planet. It has become quite obvious that a large portion of the masses have a sense of proper intuition and inborn wisdom that could put their countries on the right track if their representatives would only listen to them. Therefore, the masses should be heard before strategic decisions are made instead of doing so after they protest and make the headlines; usually when it's a bit too late to undo the wrong.

An Idea For A Novel Or A Movie

Here's one of my new ideas for a timely fiction best seller novel or a movie. No allusions intended to anyone we know or any President.

So, here's the idea. Imagine that the President of the most powerful nation in the free world is actually working for the benefit of some foreign interests but he is doing it unknowingly. The movie would show how it all began and how those innocent ties with his or her foreign friends developed through the years from school days. The story would also show how those connections helped him or her in business ventures, then to rise to power in his local area, and then later to reach for his or her country's top office. The story could also be a kind of warning. Such a situation may be a possible threat, just like the possibility of a meteor striking our planet or a madman wining in a national election. There seems to be no systems or tests designed to prevent people like that from attaining top offices or to remove them from those offices when they have achieved them. The story could also have a positive hero that would see through the masquerade and would try to stop a certain sequence of events before it's too late... The story could also have some former KGB agents ticking away in some metropolitan area, car chases, special effects and lots of other action to keep the public glued to the screen or publication for hours. It would also be a good idea for a TV series.

Replace that with this and be happy. Computers will make you free, give you more leisure time to spend with your loved ones doing what you will be told on the screen to love to do. Freedom®. We will bring those Savages Freedom®. Fight for freedom, kill for freedom, pray for freedom, sell those suckers more and more Freedom. Freedom will make them free. Freedom®. will bring them happiness. Keep watching our Channel and keep repeating, "Freedom will make me happy, freedom will make me free, freedom will make me happy..." over and over until you're happy and free just like those folks on TV.
